“Healthy Options & Wide Choice in Deli / Cafe.”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Beautiful selection of fresh mixes of salads -- a generous scoop from my choice of 3 different salads served on lettuce, tomato & sprouts. Freshly squeezed orange juice & a raspberry kugelach (with light crispy semi flake pastry) topped off a good lunch.
Excellent service from friendly staff. I'd definitely return here if ever in La Jolla.

“Perfect Little Lunch Spot”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

After visiting the coastline and enjoying the Children's Pool we were looking for a place for a quick bite. Girard Gourmet was within walking distance and had a huge selection of breakfast and lunch items. I selected a spinach and mushroom quiche. It was served with your choice of fruit or side salad. Both were excellent. The fruit was extremely fresh and the server even offered to serve only the kind fruit I liked! Now thats service. My husband decided on a tuna melt, which he enjoyed very much. Both servings were quite large and with drinks, we spent $20. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough room for any of the beautiful desserts. Cakes, pies, cookies, pastries. The even had Obama cookies (must be in CA...no Mitt cookies were offered). Seating is provided both inside and out.

“Really enjoyed their lunch”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

I had a half turkey and avocado sandwich, and a cup of clam chowder- very tasty! We talked to the woman behind the counter and she was very helpful in answering our questions, and had us try the soup before ordering it. There were tons of other entrees, side dishes, and pastries that looked delicious. It's too bad we were too full after lunch to try some of their baked goods! There are tables inside, and a few outside on the sidewalk that are open seating. Prices are very reasonable, and food quality and service are top notch!

“Bustling deli with eat in, sidewalk tables, or take away”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

Lots of soups, salads, sandwich ingredients, tempting pastries and dishes like quiches and lasagna. Busy, busy, from 7am 'til late. Friendly owner always there, greeting and serving. My go-to place in town for a casual meal. Try the fresh fruit tarts!
