“Fantastic but inexpensive Mexican food”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

Wonderful inexpensive food. Most items come either mini or regular sized so it makes it easy and affordable to try several items. Everything is made fresh when you order. Every thing we tried was excellent. The ceviche and the seafood stew were both amazing. We also had fish and lobster tacos and a Mar and Tierra burrito. Beans and rice were tasty. They also had a good selection of Mexican sodas.

“Best 99 cent Fish Taco on any San Diego beach”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

I have been going past this Bird Rock Mexican joint for a year now. FINALLY, the 99 cent Fish Taco sign stopped me to give it a try. I am now truly mad at myself for missing out on this incredibly tasty, San Felipe style, Fish Taco. It is worth at least double the price from the creamy cabbage sauce to the generous breaded fish in a warm soft corn taco shell. I tried the condiment bar and found the tastiest tomatillo salsa verde on the beach. Because the taco is prepared individually/correctly, it takes 15 minutes to be served. Take advantage of the ambiance and enjoy a Mexican beer.
From now on, I will not miss this incredible delight!

“Best Shrimp Taco”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

Tiny place with a really good shrimp taco! The pico was fab! Homemade chipolte sauce too! Place was pretty busy on a weekday lunch time! Little parking lot and very tiny porch to sit on with stools where the water can be viewed.

“Carnitas are divine”
Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

Not much to add. Good price, counter served. Food is tasty and fresh. I recommend their Carnitas (pork), try the burritos Carnitas, this is pure joy.

“Food's alright, but don't go here if you're in a hurry!”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

This is a cozy, hole-in-the-wall restaurant. There is indoor and (not too comfy) outdoor seating. They have a nice coastal Mexican décor. I really liked the cardboard cutout of the Dos Equis guy with a real rosary around his neck. I ordered rolled tacos and it took 30 minutes to get my food. Right around the time you think your food should be ready, you'll see that there are 10 orders ahead of you. Great place if you've been swimming or surfing and are hungry for beers and Mexican. However, the rolled tacos with guac, cheese and sour cream were pretty flavor-free. All I could taste was the sour cream. Again, if you're really hungry and want a beer or two, this is a great place.
