This was a very enjoyable one night stay. The room was modern and clean, nice shower, and small kitchenette. This is not a typical Holiday Inn format...perhaps a refurbished motel or small apartment complex? There is a delightful courtyard with a central breakfast room which we enjoyed in the morning.

Hunter working the front desk was a very nice and helpful host.

Needed a hotel near UCSD but all the nearby hotels were fully booked so on reading the reviews booked here. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute drive from the main campus depending on traffic.
Like others have said the hotel is very conveniently located for the local beach which is a 2 minute drive down the road opposite the hotel.
The main block of rooms overlook the main road and then there is a group of rooms in a U configuration on the ground floor around the small swimming pool.
We had a room in this group and overlooked the pool. Though the rooms are large they feel rather dated and our room had a strong damp smell coming from the carpets which despite the best efforts of the housekeeping staff remained.
There is a sink area with a shower/toilet room to the left and a cubicle to the right which has a microwave and fridge in it.The shower room had no natural light or ventilation. There was also no towel rack on the wall despite plenty of wall space and so the clean towels were left on top of the cistern which just felt a bit odd.
The external windows have wooded slated shutters and as the room is overlooked by the corridor and pool there is no privacy if you want natural light in your room and you open the shutters. some sort of privacy curtain would be very helpful. We also had issues with our TV which didn't get resolved and the picture was too dark for us to watch it.
There is the usual coffee and TV facilities in the room but no safe.
We didn't try the included breakfast but my advice would be to try one of the excellent local brunch restaurants ( The Cottage, Caroline's Seaside cafe).
AC unit worked but was really noisy, which I guess just reflects the general age of the property.
The issue is this is really a motel style hotel which is charging rates similar to higher end hotels, so unless you get a good discounted rate I don't think the nightly rate justifies the level of accommodation. The staff were all very helpful particularly Rall who was very helpful.
My advice would be find something else unless you have a particular reason to be in this area or perhaps for the nearby access to the beach.

Dear Hotel Guest,

Thank you for staying with us and thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback.
Thank you for recognizing how helpful all the staff was. I personally had the pleasure to try and accommodate your requests. The maintenance staff promptly responded and dry shampooed your carpet when you were out. They also checked the TV brightness and it was set to maximum and very bright.
We are right on La Jolla Blvd, so close to the famous Windansea beach, the La Jolla Village with the Cove and Sea Caves, and many great restaurants and shops. Many guests choose to stay here even when their business is else where in San Diego. Our location just cannot be beat.
This gem of a hotel features the Southern California villa style rooms. With the San Diego weather so perfect year round our schools and malls are also built without internal hallways. Here we fully embrace the beautiful weather and the outdoor living.
We fully remodeled all the rooms and common areas - breakfast room, pool and Jacuzzi, courtyards - while preserving the olden days charm of the property.
I do hope you will visit again and enjoy beautiful La Jolla.

Our stay at the Holiday Inn was fine -- just beware of small rooms and unreasonable pool hours...if you're coming from the East Coast, beware. LOL. For two in a queen room it is SNUG but the rooms have keurigs and mini-fridges so that is awesome. They have a really extensive breakfast -- pretty impressed -- but the pool doesn't open til 9 am and breakfast 7 am. SO -- if you're looking for that early morning hot tub, ain't happening!

Room tip: Ask for a corner room so you have some space to move around

Located near the ocean. A short walk to very god eating places and a great sandwhich shop right accross the street.
Room was clean and located by the pool. Parking was ample, but not too close to our room. Room service was
good and done when we were away. Handy computer located near service desk.

I'm not really one to leave reviews, however this place rocks! Amazing location, super friendly staff that appear to all be happy, that's a first. Lol
They have 2 maybe 3 restaurants adjacent or across the street, and both La Jolla and Pacific Beach are a cheap up Uber or Bird ride away.
I still can't believe how close the beach is for the price. When you add the patio seating, I really liked how much space this location had for eating breakfast... didn't seem crowded at all. The #1 thing I liked most about this place are the rooms. The wooden plantation shutters along with all the tropical plants and pool had me and my family feeling like we were on a vacation on an island somewhere exotic. From the moment we checked in, the super nice lady that checked us in made us feel like family and made us feel super welcomed to be there and actually seemed excited for us as well. Haha. Anyways, I'm pretty sure her name is Rali, so if you're reading this.... Thank you, I definitely remember she had a cool accent. It didn't stop there, housekeeping catered to all our requests and seemed happy to accommodate us. We definitely are coming back here again

Room tip: poolside rooms are the best
