“Stopped in for Breakfast - Not Bad.”
Reviewed July 11, 2011

We stopped in here for breakfast while passing through La Jolla. After reading the reviews on here about how great it is, we may have been expecting too much. The service was good and they were very polite. It took about 15 minutes for our food to arrive and while it was good, it wasn't any different than what everyone else is serving. We ate outside in the sunshine and cleaned up our stuff and left. I might be a bit kind giving it a 4 but our experience was slightly above average.

“Great little Mexican food stop!”
Reviewed June 30, 2011

Tripadvisor worked again! Wanted something good, fast, and inexpensive and found it with Mr Taco. The service was outstanding and the food was even better. I had the HUGE Charger burrito stuffed with carne asada, guacamole, lettuce, rice, beans, etc and then covered with rachero sauce, cheese, and a little sour cream. One of the best burritos that I've had (and we're from San Antonio). My wife enjoyed her mexican plate combo very much as well. Free chips and salsa, nice little hot sauce bar and they even had authentic Mexican drinks (Tamarindo, etc.). We also used an Entertainment book coupon to get one of the entrees free. Very close to the beach and shops so it was a very nice place to stop.

“Great food for little money”
Reviewed May 20, 2011

Ate here on a discount coupon and we'll gladly go back and pay full price. It's very inexpensive; the food is fresh, generous, and there is an excellent variety. We had a pork chile verde burrito and a carne asada plate--both were very good. The carne asada came with sour cream, quac, beans, rice and pico. The burrito was $5 and was huge. They even serve breakfast here. It is a fast food set-up. You order at the counter. They bring the food to you. I'd pass on the margarita, though, and just order beer next time. We're on vacation, but I'll be back. Excellent food at very moderate prices. Better Mexican than I had at the other La Jolla establishment we tried--and that cost a lot more.

“Inexpensive & good”
Reviewed October 13, 2008

We were touring La Jolla one afternoon and the kids started to get hungry. After asking several locals where would be a good but inexpensive place to go with the kids, most said Mr. Taco. We had the tacos - real mexican tacos - and they were quite good. They also have specialty plates like Mole & chicken.
