Best location in town, fantastic views. Make sure you request an oceanfront room or you will be disappointed with a view of the car park. We had room 123, 1 bedroom deluxe suite with 2 queens . Room was very spacious with loads of storage space for everyone. Living and Dining area also very spacious, full kitchen good size. Not luxurious but very comfortable. Pool is ok, nothing special, but that's not why you are in La Jolla! Beware of the $20 a night parking fees!

Stayed here for a weekend in September and had a great time. The rooms are big although are a little dated. The view from the balcony is brilliant and it was good that there is a kitchen as La Jolla can be expensive.

The hotel has a heated pool and jacuzzi which was great for relaxing. There is also a barbeque you can use on the pool terrace.

Breakfast is OK and is served on the roof terrace overlooking the sea.

We were worried upon arrival as they said there was an event on the night and it could get loud, however we did not hear anything. That said the walls were thin and we could here next door at times.

La Jolla is a great place, the bars are lively with lots of friendly people and there are some great places to eat. The beaches are nice but be prepared to share the sand with sealions.

Room Tip: Pay the supplement to get a sea view room, it is worth it.

We pulled into the garage near the hotel entrance to check in, however we needed a map to then drive around the building to our private parking lot. The upshot was that we'd been upgraded to a room (#240), which was more like an apartment or bungalow in the the back of the property with its own small parking lot. Make sure to keep an eye out for this private parking entrance since it's barely visible from the street and quite narrow.

The bungalow was huge! It had a full living room with a bigscreen & cable, comfy couch and side chair, as well as a four person dining table.

The small kitchen had a stove, oven, utensils, dining wares, a coffee pot, full size fridge, and a microwave. Everything you need for a longer stay and when you want to eat in.

The bedroom had two double beds, a small tv, an iDock, and a full size closet with an iron and ironing board. The only oddity was the weirdly beat-up lampshade next to our bed. It looked like it'd been in a fight. ?

Like the rest of the "room" the bathroom was full size, with a blow dryer and plenty of room to move around. The toiletries were minimal- shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and 2 bar soaps. My only complaint was the gray staining on the tile near the shower, as well as in a top corner of the shower. The tile should be replaced ASAP and the wall/ceiling cleaned thoroughly.

The highlight was the huge balcony with a four person table and stunning views of the ocean and coast. (The hotel is across the street from the ocean and Scripps Park.) There are large arcadia doors that we just left open during our 2-night stay. The views from inside are pretty great as well. I also loved that we had two fans. If we stay again in the warmer months they'll be useful since there only appears to be central heating.

The hotel offers a free continental breakfast with lots of pastries to choose from- a carb lover's dream! There is no onsite restaurant or room service, so stock up on food from a local market since the kitchen has almost everything you need except for a wine opener.

One of the most charming parts was listening to the nightly "arf!" of the seals.

The location is in the heart of La Jolla Village, which means everything you need is within walking distance.

Overall, I loved this place and would recommend this part of the hotel to anyone. I wouldn't consider staying in the main part of the hotel since it didn't seem to have the charm of the bungalow we stayed in, nor the views from above that we had.

La Jolla Cove Suites has a wonderful location across the street from the ocean and a short walk to dining and shopping. The rooms are adequately furnished but the bathroom had dated fixtures. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast on the roof with scenic views of the coast. The waffles were very tasty! The staff was very helpful and responsive to questions about the area.

This hotel is fabulous for the price! It was clean (yes, it is dated), perfect for our family of 6 and the view was spectacular! It was right across from the cove and close to great shopping, etc. The complimentary pass to the sports club is phenomenal, and the place has a great pool and continental breakfast (with a stellar view!) We will DEFINITELY be back!!!!

Kendrafu, we are so pleased you had a wonderful time! And even more happy that we will be seeing you again soon, we have many repeat guests, most of them multigenerational families coming for over 20 years to enjoy the view, the convenient location to the cove, and the shopping and dining of La Jolla Village itself. In fact, our property is so popular with repeat guests that we have monthly newsletter with special promotions we send out, called the Cove Connection. If you would like to be added to our Cove Connection mailing list, please contact Tracy at twhite@lajollacove.com. We hope to see you and your family back soon!

The first time we went there was wonderful we stayed in a ocean front room and it was great.

This time when we called they said those rooms were taken but they had a few rooms left that were in the back and smaller. We booked one of those rooms and it was the same price as the big room we stayed in last time. When we got there it was awful. looked like a closet. no place to even put luggage, the bathroom was so small the door hit the bed and the sink was the smallest I have ever seen and right next to the toilet. You would hit your hip on the sink when getting out of the shower. No coffee pot, no frig and no air conditioning just a small fan. When we asked the maid for extra towels we got a call from the manager and she told us we better not have extra people in our room. We paid $20 to park and when returning at night could not find a space to park because of a wedding. overall experience just awful

Room Tip: If you stay here better get a suite in front or you will be dissapointed

dgrier617, it is nice to know that your first visit with us was as you shared "wonderful", and as you found our ocean view suites are a different experience than our smaller more economical hotel rooms. That is why the rate is significantly different. I apologize that our team did not do a better job in explaining to you the difference of the two room types, and we will address that in our future training. Our property enjoys being in high demand for guests looking for the closest location to the ocean when in La Jolla so our availability at times is very limited, we never want to disappoint our guests, so thank you for assisting us in identifying we need to do a better job
when describing our room types. I hope you will consider returning to give us another opportunity
to host you in one of our ocean view suites again. If so please let me know, and we will take very good care of you.

Really great location right next to the cove, down the hill from the restaurants. Our ocean facing room faced the ocean....also the outhouses in the park. In fact, our room (I imagine the others surrounding us as well) were directly upwind from the outhouses, meaning that the odors of feces and heavy chemicals filled the air. No air conditioning, so the window (one tiny one in the bedroom), and the sliding doors to the semi-private balcony had to constantly be left open. Small suite in size... living room had a love seat, a small boxy one at that, the kitchen was small, and the bathroom was tiny. On-property Hotel parking for hotel guests is ridiculously expensive. Pool was nice, hot tub was nice. Breakfast choices were nothing but carbs: pastries, cereal, basic waffles (if you'll wait in an non-orderly fashion). Proteins, even hard boiled eggs, didn't exist. They had oranges that were slightly green if you wanted do dilute your carbo overload. This would be a great place to party with your 21 year old friends (as many were), but other then that, it's just a good location.

Room Tip: Find a place with air conditioning.

Brent R., thank you, yes our location is the considered the best when visiting La Jolla, as we are only 220 feet from the ocean, and the wild life. Which occasionally does result in a natural smell occurring which is what you experienced during your stay. Our community is addressing it as it does impact some our of guests throughout the village. We are very sorry you did not totally enjoy your stay with us, but our parking charge is comparable for the area, our breakfast is meant to be only a continental, it is upgraded with homemade Belgian waffles and hard boiled eggs as a courtesy convenience to our guests, at no charge. And perhaps you were here on a weekend we had a wedding, as our demographics is primarily families and couples, as we are considered a quiet, relaxing place to enjoy the beauty, sights and activities of being a oceanside getaway. We sincerely hope your next visit to La Jolla is more enjoyable.
