We had a perfect day to kayak along the coast. The guides were informative and helpful. I was worried about getting past the surf but it was not a problem. We went in one cave, saw the wildlife and beauty of La Jolla! It was great fun riding the kayak back in on the waves.

We managed to book a beautiful, calm, clear day and saw a ton of things. Our guide was great and very patient with my friend who was a 1st time kayaker.

We went kayaking out to the sea caves that were close by. Then we went snorkeling into, out of and around the sea cave area. We got to see and hear seals that were leisurely lying on the rock cliffs. Only a few fish to see while snorkeling.

It was chilly, but we had wet suits to put on that made it much better. There were dressing rooms and lockers to put your stuff in.

The only bad thing was that we did not have shoes on when we had to walk down the street to the beach. The pavement was scorching hot.

My boyfriend and I bought a Groupon for the kayak tour and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We are from South Florida so we live at the beach and see marine life (mostly dolphins and manatees) often. But the beach in La Jolla is one of the prettiest ones I have seen. Plus, sea lions and seals are something we don't have here, so seeing them in their natural habitat was AWESOME!! The tour guides were extremely knowledgable and funny and fun... The kind of people you can tell actually love their jobs. After a quick lesson in kayaking you make your way out onto the ocean from the beach, so you have to battle the waves on your way out. It was fun and we managed it without tipping (thankfully) but the water was COLD! We went in October and we were pretty chilled initially until the sun warmed us back up. We are used to the warm Atlantic so the chilly Pacific was a shock to us. We paddled out and saw leopard sharks swimming under the kayaks and then tons of sea lions. Then the guides brought us into this cave where there were even more and there were a few swimming in the water a foot from the kayaks! It was definitely a cool experience and something I plan on doing again if I ever return. Having the Groupon was nice, but I definitely think its an experience that's worth paying the full price for if you don't have the Groupon.
