We had a great time on our Kayak and snorkel tour. We started out by battling some pretty strong waves. Our Guide (Guy) let u know that the waves were some of the largest he had seen in a while. We actually were tossed out of the Kayak and had to regroup and set out for a second try. Our second try was more successful in getting by the breaking waves. Guy was very knowledgeable about the area. It was almost like my wife and I had a private tour for a little while because some of the other tour guests were not keeping up with the front. We got a lot of info that i think the other guests missed. We were able to swim into a few of the caves, one of which was loaded with sea lions. The sea lions would dive off the rocks and swim right by. It was a neat experience. I would definitely bring an underwater camera. There is a ton of underwater wildlife to take pictures of. We saw Garibaldi fish, leopard sharks, manta rays, lobsters among others. Overall it was a great experience and I think we would do it again!

This was a great experience. Our guides were fun and encouraging, despite our lack of experience. Definitely worth the price.

Our particular experience was just ok. We got to see some fish, sea lions, and birds, but not very close up and didn't get to go in the caves. Your experience really depends on the wildlife and tides. I could see this being a 5 star rating had there been more wildlife up close that day. The guides are friendly and helpful and give a good overview of the area to keep it interesting.
Instead of the kayaking, I would recommend going to LA Jolla cove beach. You can get as close as your comfortable with to the sea lions on the beach. If you rent or bring some snorkeling stuff, even just some goggles would be ok, you can go in the water and likely have sea lions swim right by you. We saw about a dozen people snorkeling and looking at fish and every few minutes a sea lion would swim right under them. There are rocks around so it can be a little unsafe if you're not a strong swimmer though.

We went on a group ocean kayaking tour with HBK. The trip felt kind of rushed and by the time we got out to the caves, it was time to turn around and paddle back. Other groups were actually kayaking into the caves which looked like fun. The guides were informative and friendly. This is definitely a work out so those with back problems should probably not do it. We had a few in our group who had never kayaked and found it quite difficult. Getting through the initial break was challenging and the waves never really let up. This is not so much a relaxing tour as it is a work out. It was a lot of fun and our group had a great time. Just wish we had more time out in the ocean once we saw the sea lions but I'm sure it was more our group leader calling the time rather than the HBK tour guides. They seemed to really enjoy their job and were very knowledgeable about the area.

We did the kayak and snorkel tour and it was so fun. It was the highlight of our trip. Drew was amazing and helpful. He put us right at ease. We watched all the other tours go out with 20+ people and most of their time was spent waiting for the rest of their group. I was so thankful we had a small group experience. I would definitely recommend them.
