“Surprisingly bad!”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

I'm so disappointed in Azul. For a place that bills itself as a steakhouse, serving prime cuts... our experience was very sub-par.
First, the positives: loved the ambiance and decor. The service was very good.
However, our reservation at 6:30pm on a Tuesday for the prime rib special yielded the last 2 prime ribs that the kitchen had. They substituted rib eye steaks, which would have been fine - but - the medium rare steaks (we ordered 3) were all very overcooked, very thin, and tasteless, not to mention tough. I have a very hard time believing it was a prime cut. It was maybe 1/2" high, which is probably why it was overcooked.
However, the service was wonderful.
The french onion soup was served in spite of the cooks spilling an extreme amount of pepper in it -- all of ours were so pepper-hot they were ridiculous, and we know it was pepper because the flakes were throughout the soup, embedded in the cheese - everywhere. Why would they serve a mistake like that???
With so many wonderful locations and restaurants in the vicinity, I won't be wasting my time and money to see if Azul improves. What a shame - I really was looking forward to a wonderful meal.

“beautiful views”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Ask for a table near the window. The food is excellent but not quite up to the level of the big steakhouse chains (morton's,ruth chris, etc). Price is a little high -- porterhouse for 2 is $100. Wine by the glass was reasonably priced. Romantic place but alas i was there for biz dinner

“Very good dinner and location”

Very good dinner (both fish appetizers and steaks) and beautiful view. Reserve a table 'ocean view' at the sunset, it will be great!

“Food to match the view”
Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

We decided to dine here after a long day at the beach/theme parks. We had no reservation but were given a table directly infront of the picture window view of the pacific. I sort of expected that the food or service would pale in comparison but I was wrong. The food was excellent and the service was prompt and friendly. This was probably one of the best meals we have ever had.

“Happy hour!”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

A tasty happy hour menu that exceeded it's promise. The Ahi sandwich with thin cut fries was generous and could have been served at anytime for three time the price. Everyone in our party was happy with their order and that is rare even when you pay full pop. The drink menu was worthy but it's the food that stands out. Unfortunately the happy hour menu is limited to their courtyard and lounge, no ocean view, but the courtyard was spacious and comfortable. The service was friendly and prompt.
