Mount Soledad separates La Jolla and Pacific Beach, and from the top of this mountain you have a gorgeous panoramic view of LJ, PB, Mission Bay and some of the canyons in the area. I would recommend to come here towards the end of your stay, because from up here I always found it fun to locate the places that I had been to, and to see them from above. The best time of day to come up here is close to sunset - you will have great lighting for taking pictures. To the north you will see La Jolla Shore Beach and Scripps Pier, to the south, Mission Bay and Pacific Beach. I really enjoy taking La Jolla Scenic Drive back down to PB - the road is really scenic, and you have a gorgeous view of the the beach about halfway down the mountain. If you are a cyclist, this is a favorite ride for many San Diego cyclists. I would recommend going up the steep side from La Jolla (Mount Soledad Road), and then taking LJ Scenic drive down - you get the best views this way, and you can brag about how hard core you are :-)
