Travis gave us great recommendations and service. We had lunch on the upper deck and loved their famous soup, cemita chicken sandwich, and the toffee pudding cake. It was all excellent and Travis gave us a copy of the soup recipe. There was nothing snobbish about the place. It was just fun and one of the best lunches I have had. The menu is different and interesting and for the quality you receive, the price is fair.

The view at Georges is beautiful, especially if you can get a table along the edge. The food is very fresh. My husband loved the fish sandwich he ordered. I enjoyed my fish tacos, very fresh. The ceviche was great too! The best part was the Pepper Pineapple margarita...simply delicious.

Really, this is one of the greatest restaurant experiences I've ever had. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give the food a 7; but the ambiance I'd rate off the chart. Make a reservation for the upper deck and plan on a time just before sunset. Your table overlooks the Cove including the sea lions and all other marine life - we saw schooling dolphins and a whale. Bring a light jacket but the restaurant does do a great job providing heaters above every table. My wife had the steak and I ate the mahi mahi. Our waiter was very efficient and very friendly. When you go, plan to go early and stay late. It truly is an awesome experience.

We had the best table in the place: our seats were two purple couches on rollers. We both ordered the $70 prix fixe meal and were blown away by the flavors. He enjoyed beef tongue, grilled octopus, lamb two ways, and a sampler platter of dessert flavors and textures. I had a soft egg that was heavenly, fish tacos, grilled chicken that was the most exciting chicken I have ever had, and doughnut holes with dipping sauces like chocolate, fruit compote, coconut creme, and lemon curd. Attentive service, perfectly timed and executed courses, and dim, romantic atmosphere. Perfection, in other words.

We just landed at San Diego and were headed north to Carlsbad. Took a chance to stop in La Jolla for lunch. Came across George's at the Cove and immediately were taken by the view on the upper deck. Were the fish tacos the best I've ever had? No, but the exceptionally friendly hostess and server were most welcoming after a long day of travel. We're rather particular about good food and this did fit the bill though peanut butter and jelly would have been just fine on this beautiful terrace! Definitely would stop back on future travels.
