Description: George's at the Cove is a renowned three-level dining destination located in the heart of La Jolla overlooking the Pacific Ocean and northern coastline. We offer three distinct restaurant and bar concepts – one fine dining and two casual – with stunning ocean views and award-winning cuisine. Known for its splendid rooftop setting, the popular George’s Ocean Terrace – complete with a newly expanded and elevated bar – offers casual al fresco fare for lunch and dinner that is perfectly complemented by sweeping ocean views. Recently reinvented from floor to ceiling, the all-new George’s Level2 – located on the second level – is elevating the craft of cocktails with housemade ingredients and handcut ice. Featuring all the classics and innovative modern creations, like the signature Sea3, Level2 offers a variety of cocktails well-suited to any taste. On the lower level, George's California Modern is a contemporary fine dining restaurant and bar featuring seasonally-driven California cuisine. Guests are invited to explore “San Diego on a plate” through a la carte or tasting menus inspired by the lifestyle, ingredients and sense of place that is San Diego. Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to enjoy the San Diego lifestyle to its fullest, George’s at the Cove is an essential part of any visit to the region.

“One of the best in the country”

A must when visiting La Jolla or Del Mar. You probably want a reservation but I have gotten in a couple of times without one. This visit we did the four course tasting meal with wine pairing. The four course gives you one choice each from two appetizer groups, choice of entrees, and choice of desserts. By all means consult them about your wine choices. I have discovered some very good wines that way and their pairings are good. This latest meal was in the main dining room downstairs. This is fairly formal dining, but La Jolla is not a coat and tie place so not too dressy. Upstairs at the bar and on the terrace are less formal dining and also recommended.

“My Favorite San Diego Restaurant”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

Each time I have dined at George's the food and service has been beyond excellent. The Martinis and Wine List are first glass. We have dined inside on the lower level, which gives you a fine view , and a pleasurable culinary experience.
On our most recent visit, we were joined by my children and grandchildren, and decided to dine outside , the view was spectacular , as was the food. It was a chilly evening and the staff was thoughtful enough to offer lap blankets to all the patrons, if so needed. Only at George's.
Make sure you try George's signature olive oil , it is the best , and we even brought a bottle home.
This is the place for that very special occassion.

“Anniversary Dinner for the Ages”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Took the wife here for our second anniversary and as our final meal in San Diego before moving back east. Went to California Modern, but there are some more informal areas to eat as well with good views of the cove. Weren't able to get a seat by the window, but that wasn't a big deal, as we could still see water from our seats.

Chose the 4 course tasting menu, and all the items were delicious. Had the corn pudding, grilled prawns (special for the day), yellowtail, and doughnuts. The prawns were worth the up charge, I didn't really love the vegetable combo with the yellowtail, but overall it was a good dish. Very happy with my choice of the doughnuts.

Had a few drinks, and they even gave us some complimentary champagne to celebrate, which was nice. Service was excellent. Price for the 4 course was in the $70 range, drinks were $15ish. Make reservations, and you'll have to valet. There was an upcharge for a handful of the entrees as well. Overall I would highly recommend George's to someone looking for a nice dinner in La Jolla.

“An incredible experience”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

California Modern is a wonderful restaurant. It has tasting menus that are probably the better choice, but we chose ala carte because we were not that hungry.

We chose the Chino Farms Tomatoes with burrata, basil and tomato water. The 28-Day Dry Aged Ribeye, was absolutely spectacular!! And though we thought we weren't that hungry when we arrived, we managed to make room for the Donuts and Dips! Yum!

The wine list was extensive. The service was perfect!

It didn't hurt that we had a window seat looking out to the cove!

We had a wonderful experience and would go back anytime we are in La Jolla!
