Description: George's at the Cove is a renowned three-level dining destination located in the heart of La Jolla overlooking the Pacific Ocean and northern coastline. We offer three distinct restaurant and bar concepts – one fine dining and two casual – with stunning ocean views and award-winning cuisine. Known for its splendid rooftop setting, the popular George’s Ocean Terrace – complete with a newly expanded and elevated bar – offers casual al fresco fare for lunch and dinner that is perfectly complemented by sweeping ocean views. Recently reinvented from floor to ceiling, the all-new George’s Level2 – located on the second level – is elevating the craft of cocktails with housemade ingredients and handcut ice. Featuring all the classics and innovative modern creations, like the signature Sea3, Level2 offers a variety of cocktails well-suited to any taste. On the lower level, George's California Modern is a contemporary fine dining restaurant and bar featuring seasonally-driven California cuisine. Guests are invited to explore “San Diego on a plate” through a la carte or tasting menus inspired by the lifestyle, ingredients and sense of place that is San Diego. Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to enjoy the San Diego lifestyle to its fullest, George’s at the Cove is an essential part of any visit to the region.

Special place for a special meal in La Jolla. Wonderfully prepared fish, and I don't even like fish. Pricey but for the right occasion, it's hard to beat. Great atmosphere and first class wait staff.

I can’t think of something better

One of the best seared halibut on almond I have ever had. Great athmopshere, lots of young people on Friday night. The view is amazing and the food is worth it a trip to La Jolla. Highly recommend for visitors who wants to have a “bit” of la Jolla. When Malibu merges perfectly with a city….

There is no better view of the Pacific than at LaJolla Cove and George's has 3 levels to enjoy it.
We opted for an inside warmer table at the Modern, no view but good service and very enjoyable meal. The sweet potato soup was great, the swordfish and scallops perfectly prepared...the
desserts...disappointing...too "prepared"...Manager visited out table and was very engaging.

I met the namesake, "George" more than 20 years ago at the restaurant. We frequented a few times. When we returned now, more than 20 years later, I was so pleased to see him there once again, showing up to keep his hands in every aspect of his perfect spot....that says just so much about the place...every level, every dish, every service member, showing perfect excellence....a must do!

The view is top notch if you get an oceanside table. Nothing like staring out into the ocean as you eat, very relaxing.

The bread pudding dessert is to die for. Not too rich, excellent texture. By far one of the best desserts I've ever had.

The fish tacos are really good. They grill the fish instead of deep frying it, which I prefer.

That's where the highlights stop.

The other dishes, sampled at least half a dozen, are average.

Nothing worth talking about. It's possible that I ended up sampling the half dozen worse dishes on the menu, but most were server recommendations.

Which also brings us to the service. Bad recommendations, nothing stellar about the service other than it gets slow during busy times, like super slow. They forgot about us one time, and so I ended up paying with the hostess because we couldn't wait any longer. Just a one time offense though, been here enough times to vouch that service is not terrible day to day.

Recap: great view, average food, average service, average rating.
