We were seated at a table and realized this was the fancy [expensive] restaurant. When we inquired about what we saw online they pointed us to the less fancy, but very nice Crab Catcher next door. That place had great food with better pricing. Everyone was friendly in both places. It is the same place, they use the same restrooms and the buildings are attached. They even closed the door for us when we said it was getting cool.

In La Jolla, parking can be a nightmare, especially in the summer months, but Crab Catcher will validate your parking ticket if you park under their building, a great perk. The views of the cove at sunset are stellar. I don't think the prices are outrageous, but they usually participate in Restaurant Week (2x/year), so if you want to sample their wares, go during one of those weeks or during happy hour for discounts. I agree with some others that the food is not mind-blowing, but it is decent, and for being so close to downtown La Jolla, the prices are quite reasonable comparatively.

This place is nice, but the food is not up to the prices. I have been here several times and each time I am hoping the food gets better. The views are great, and the service is good.
The happy hour at the sushi/tapas bar is a good deal.

They have an amazing happy hour with really great prices. You can sit out on the patio until dinner time but if you catch the sunset it's beautiful. The crab artichoke dip is amazing!!!! Tacos and sushi ate great too. The martinis are wonderful - they have an amazing key lime pie martini. The only draw back is I haven't had very good service when I go there. The staff seems very unhappy. I would suggest a change in management if the staff is all so unhappy!

Happy hour is very affordable and equally good food with great views. The seating area is in front as soon as you ascend the stairs. We really enjoyed the $10 to $15 meals. They make great cocktails.
