My wife and I show up at 11AM to have lunch before we have to catch our flight. The atmosphere was fantastic. We overlooked the ocean, had a nice table, it was quiet.

We order 3 appetizers/lunch entrees. the Dark Kale with salmon was superb. Nachos were so-so and why the black beans are on the bottom is anyone's guess. They need to marinate chicken so it doesn't taste bland. The wings were ok.

The bartender/server was poor. I think she meant well but she said some stuff that just ruined the experience. My wife and I go to San Diego often with the kids and we thought it would be fun to try out this hotel/restaurant. The experience at lunch said "let's pass for now".

For lunch (our only experience), go for atmosphere, not food or service.

Went to this restaurant on Valentine's Day - it was a set menu but they gave you about three choices per course. Each course was average, not bad but I've had way better at other restaurants. I ordered the Filet Mignon but it seemed way more like a sirloin cut than a filet. The restaurant itself is old and a bit weathered but it does have a fabulous view right on the beach - however be aware that in La Jolla, the fog can be fickle and on our particular night we had absolutely no view as the fog settled in for the night - not the restaurants fault of course but we were a bit disappointed our romantic sunset cocktails turned into a scene from The Fog...including a homeless man who dug through the trash right in front of us and proceeded to eat discarded food from a styrofoam container. Glad we tried it but we won't be returning anytime soon.

Nice enough restaurant, expensive bloody marys. Great salmon on bagel for breakfast, dinner was enough too. good prices for the food. However, nothing earth shattering.

We called into this restaurant during our travels in and around San Diego. Great location is about all it had going for it. We were planning on having coffee and cake and had noticed that the prices were a bit on high side. However being conscious of usual American portions thought we would treat ourselves. The cake was not even a full slice because it was circular it was barely 3 full spoon fuls and the coffee was average. Bearing in mind the cost $6 we wre expecting something out of this world. Never go there again

You can't get closer to the beach - the view is perfect.
We had the bar menu, as it was after 3 pm when we sat down for lunch. Our waitress was great, helpful and attentive. Her colleagues, and service otherwise, left a lot to be desired. Dirty tables were not cleared for over an hour; the food took almost an hour to arrive; and though we were told that the patio was closed, other patrons arriving after us were seated there...
The food was average, but we were hungry, and the location was worth it. Hopefully the restaurant is better!
