If this restaurant were located in any other town, in a more "average" location, this place would not be well-reviewed. The only thing it has going for it is its location. Of course a (relatively) seaside restaurant located in La Jolla can pull together some okay sushi rolls, but there is nothing to write home about here.
Also, staff was less than helpful, starting with a hostess that seemed bent on telling us we couldn't bring our collapsible stroller into the restaurant. Next was the waitress that didn't know what was on the drink or food menus, and that unenthusiastically told us "no, we don't have any specials here." She also informed me - after paying and getting my credit card back - "I can take that at any time." (I say this, because this is just unpolished and strange for an expensive restaurant)
