Description: Cafe Solange is a neighborhood restaurant with a unique Parisian style bakery and coffee shop. It is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon happy hour. We serve a delectable array of freshly baked pastries, soups, salads, sandwiches, and more. The beer and wine bar has an exquisite selection of both local and French wines, as well as local microbrews on draft. Here at Cafe Solange, our mission is a humble one. It is simply to create an environment that invites guests to travel with us to the iconic Parisian street, Avenue Emille Zola, complete with a view of our Eiffel Tower. A place of well-being and happiness, where great stories are shared with others, and just as important, comfortable cuisine accented by subtle French details, such as our house made vinaigrettes and Hollandaise sauce. Our menu is set up to reflect our guests' desires. Even though we're French, our breakfast offerings include a great variety of pancakes served with a homemade berry puree. Come and enjoy our French culture with a glass of Bordeaux, or one of our local microbrews on draft. Our Patio is pet friendly, so bring your companion as they do in France !!!

“Close to very good, maybe just bad timing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

We visited this bistro because of its proximity to our hotel.
We went for Monday morning breakfast and our server was heard to tell another guest that somebody called out (later he was training a new hire!) so our service was certainly affected by those factors.
I ordered the Veggie Volcano which was loaded with veggies and came with a very good, spicy salsa and a warm tortilla. This was all very good and they even omitted green peppers at my request. My wife had the fruit, granola and greek yogurt parfait. The fruit was primarily honeydew and cantaloupe with the rare piece of pineapple. She said the strawberry slice on top were not very good. Otherwise it was OK. My daughter requested a chocolate chip muffin and the server returned to tell us that there was only cranberry or bran because "they don't send us very much on Monday." Hmm, "send?" I thought the sign said bakery. Don't get me wrong, the server was very nice and was handling things as best he could.
The bottom line is that this is a reasonably priced place for breakfast, close to the beach, that is trying to be very good.
There are a few inside seats but most of the seating is on an open patio.

“Disappointed but hopeful”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

Maybe we went there on an off day. I don't know. The service, while pleasant took way too long and we never did get the tea that we asked for. We ordered eggs bennie and a salad with chicken. One of the eggs was cooked perfectly, the other was hard so I asked for a new egg, that was cooked soft. It came out in a little bowl, sitting in water and was barely cooked. Raw does not equal soft - the new egg was inedible. The chicken that was ordered with the salad was overcooked and dry as leather and was not edible. Our server was pretty green and was trying really hard but needs to pay more attention to what is asked for, not just smiling and trying to say nice things. We did speak to the owner, Christian. A very nice guy and his heart is in the right place. He did apologize, removed the chicken from the bill and gave us a couple of chocolate croissants to take with us. While my review is fairly negative I am hopeful that the kitchen will be more careful in the quality of food put out and that Christian will do what needs to be done to make his business a success.

“Yummy Yummy Yummy”

The veggie breakfast with rice and beans was amazing! I am not a vegan, but it was so wonderful. And the presentation was so inviting. Really good flavor. The service was really good also. They really all appeared to be a "team" there. When one person was busy doing something, someone else would seat you or bring your breakfast. Nice to see the staff all flying by in every direction. Making sure the customers were all taken care of and no waitng. The pastries...left me it short. I had everyones favorite. The strawberry & cake thingy. (Sorry) it was dry and really not as tasty as it looked. Late morning there was not much of a selection. Went back on another day just to check out maybe buying a delicious pastry. Not much selction that day either.

“New restaurant with great food!”

This place is great annual of the food. The owner's name is Christian and he really tries hard to please everyone. We had the steak last night and it was perfect. The breakfast is really excellent.

“Great Breakfast and Dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013 via mobile

Meet the owner, Christian who was friendly and very attentive. He is been working hard to improve the menu and make everyone who visits Delighted. The steak was only $20 and very tasty. The breakfast omelette is perfect. Ask for the pancake which is not on the menu but oh so creamy. The food is great value and I would highly recommend it to everyone.
