Description: SpecialtiesThe Whisknladle Crew is pleased to welcome you to Prepkitchen. Prepkitchen was inspired by our never-ending quest to make our food from scratch and then driven by physical limitations of Whisknladle's tiny kitchen. At first it was nothing more than chicken scratch and a logistical nightmare but over time it blossomed into what it is today; our casual quick bite eatery, take out joint and gourmet market.Soups - Salads - Sandwiches - Antipasti - Entrees - Fresh Pastas - House Cured Meats Artisan Cheeses - Beer - WineMeet the Business Owner: Arturo K.What first started as an off the cuff partnership between a hungry & talented chef (Ryan Johnston)in need of a kitchen and a desperate culinary school drop out in need of a chef (Arturo Kassel) hasblossomed over the last 4 years into Whisknladle Hospitality.Together with our committed and passionate managing partners and our patient angel investors (?), we've continued to grow from one small and ambitious little restaurant to a small little restaurant group with even bigger ambitions.Since opening Whisknladle's doors in 2008, our company's mission has been to bring good food, good wine & great people together.Culinarily speaking, we take a back to the future approach to cooking by working with seasonal & farm to table products and taking the time to make most of our food from scratch; the way it used to be, they way it ought to be.

“Wow...really great! Can't get tastes out of our heads.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014

Came back to the area for business trip and intentionally wanted to try highly recommended places to eat. This restaurant alone is a reason to come back to the area. We started with a white and a red sangria. My wife who does not drink much truly enjoyed the passion fruit sangria. We ordered the Mahi and Mary's half chicken. The Mahi with the pistachio crust and fingerling potatoes were very good but the chicken was one of the best dishes we have ever had. With a taste combination of onions, garlic, dates and yams...the tastes of this meal have stayed with us the past two weeks. We took the remaining thigh with us and my wife had it for breakfast while I headed to a meeting the next morning. Her text simply said that she just had her best breakfast ever... The staff were very helpful. Andy shared info on each drink as well as entree options. We're very glad we took the chance. This one was a true winner. We will be back.

“The food here is excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2014

We travel a lot and dine at restaurants around the world. The food at this Prep Kitchen in La Jolla is just excellent. Four of us had totally different appetizers, main course and desserts and we enjoyed every plate. This La Jolla location needs to be near the top of trip advisor. The offer of one free corkage for every bottle purchased is also a nice touch. Service was great and the chef came out during a break to ask if we were satisfied. If you like to eat good food, you must dine here while in La Jolla.

“Delicious food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2013

Every entree at our table was judged excellent. We had brunch, I had chilaquiles which had a perfect balance of texture and flavor. My wife had a butternut squash/kale salad. My daughter thought her Huevos Rancheros meal was also excellent. We had their pumpkin bread pudding which was simply the best bread pudding I have eaten. The only issue with this restaurant was relatively slow service, but the staff was very friendly and the experience was great.

“Exceptional fare in an unconventional setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

You wouldn't think to find such artistic and adventurously flavorful food from a first glance, here, but it's what they offer. Additionally, their $10 Pinot Noir simply blew away an identically-priced offering from one of the higher-end water-view restaurants in town.
