A week in San Diego/ La Jolla with a deliberate search for good/great meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, such a treat! Never an abundance of food(ie) or pretention was sought, just the right ambiance for the time of day, view, service, an offering. One has to stand out. To dance!! For both us it was hands down our evening at Herringbone. The interior is old warehouse and transplanted olive trees, a little contrived, but surprisingly (probably to us and them) great for tramping down ambient noise - finally a quite diner conversation. Wait staff, young eager, and knowledgeable. So okay on room, okay on staff, but WOW the food was great. I had Pacific Swordfish Tipsy and the wife Grilled Salmon, great-great, but what you must not leave without is The Coffee Puck, OMG, OMFG!! With a double espresso please. You will thank me later.

“Delicious brunch in an indoor olive garden!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2014

Our family went to the Easter Sunday brunch at Herringbone in La Jolla. We liked the food a lot. The dishes all had a different flair. My vegetable scramble was delicious and large. We sampled a half dozen of fresh, flavorful oysters. The Bloody Mary was excellent. We particularly like the openness of the restaurant and the high ceiling which makes the restaurant less noisy. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and very attentive. The indoor olive trees were adorned with Easter Eggs for the kids! The parking was ample on the street and in the adjacent lot. The bathrooms are clean, very attractive and unique -- be sure to visit them!

“Fun, Southern California eatery!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2014

Loved the atmosphere in The Herringbone Restaurant! Very lively and eclectic. I ordered the pasta with lobster in a light cream sauce, and, it didn't fail to satisfy! The service was great and attention to detail noticeable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants the feel of an open atmosphere and Southern California specialties.

This is a restaurant that hits all the senses! It's worth going here just for the design. Who puts real olive trees in a hangar building with blow fish in the walls. The food is equally inventive, farm to table fresh. The vibe is fun, music on weekends and walking distance to everything central La Jolla.

“Delicious! Should be higher ranked.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2014 via mobile

Went here for a business dinner based on a recommendation from a local. We went on a Tuesday night so there was no problem getting a table although we did have reservations. We started with drink and ceviche as well as a baked cheese with seasonal preserves. The appetizers were excellent.

For dinner I had the seared albacore tuna with a side of brussel sprouts. The tuna could have used a little more seasoning for my taste but still tasted great. The sprouts were delicious. For desert, we finished it off with a chocolate sundae.

I hear that they also have bands or DJs on the weekends but I don't know what days / nights.

Entrees run in the $26-46 range.

This is definitely a place I am going to add to my spots when entertaining for business when in the San Diego area. Also a great place for a date.
