The Shores, as La Jolla Shores is referred to, is a Wonderful beach for family. Private parking lot that fills fast;; go early. Many restaurants and shops to peruse if you're not a beach person; all within walking distance of the ocean. Rent kayaks and other ocean toys along with bikes and scooters. A great place to watch the sunset, too.

La Jolla is situated in a natural cove, which offers breathtaking sunsets, glorious ocean views and a good food scene. LJSP is right in the middle of it all.

Parking is awful, so I recommend taking a ride share there.

My wife loves this beach, but I find it to be pretty average. I no longer swim here since being stung by a sting ray. It is not particularly clean or scenic. Parking can be difficult.

Vacation in San Diego wouldn't be complete without a trip to the beach.

La Jolla Shores was new to us and it was wonderful. My parents have mobility issues. We found a section near Lifeguard Tower 32 that had a mat for use by those with walkers and wheelchairs. My parents could really get up close to the water without trouble. Wonderful!

The waves were just right, surfing if that is your thing, body surfing, warm water, and lots of lifeguards.

Lovely day at an unpretentious beach reassuringly free of beach vendors. It’s a fairly small beach in distance between the sand and sea. The waves were big enough to provide hours of boogie boarding fun for kids and the water was relatively shallow and easy to navigate. I would suggest bringing your own refreshments as there were no nearby cafes or shops to stock up from.
