Nice location to stop by for a meal. Plenty if similar choices in vicinity. Nearby Parking could be a challenge .

For a beautiful drive from downtown San Diego head north on N. Harbor Dr past the airport to Nimitz Blvd though Pt Loma, Ocean Beach and eventually connect with La Jolla Blvd to La Jolla Shores to one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. A favorite beach of ours just before La Jolla Shores is a turn-off for Marine Street Beach. Great crashing shore waves for buggy boarding, not very crowded, and great walks up to a moon-like landscape with lovely tide pools and sea-life...and its all free including street parking! Can be foggy and cool during parts of the day in summer but Sep-Nov are fabulous.

We visited La Jolla in July. Our stay was actually in Ocean Beach but the one sunny day we had, we drove to La Jolla, rented Kayaks, took a tour, swam in the ocean, walked along the shops and restaurants and enjoyed the beautiful La Jolla town. The beach is very nice, calm and turquoise blue water, the harmless leopard sharks and sting rays (not as harmless) were plentiful so we had to be careful walking in the water. We saw a few jellyfish floating in the water but it wasn't bad. It was spectacularly beautiful and we had a great time on the kayak tour. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the San Diego area to spend a day or two in La Jolla and go to the beach.

This is a must visit, clean sandy beach forever, Take the kids and enjoy the play sets, warm sand, and. Water was not the warmest, but not bad. I only wished we had taken a picnic with us.

How relaxing it was to watch the peaceful waves flow in and out! We particularly enjoyed watching the playful seals climbing on and sliding off their island rock.
