Owner description: San Diego's most desirable spot for swimming, diving and snorkeling. The water is calm and the cove is ecologically protected. There is also a world famous dive site that is located in the La Jolla ecological preserve.

“Very Cool to see”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Great area to walk along the cliffs and watch the wildwife. We walked all the way down past the childrens beach. Tons of seals on both beaches. There is also plenty of places to eat or get a drink just accross the street and it is just a short walk to the downtown area.

“Lots of Wildlife to See Here”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

The cove is a great place to see the harbor seals and all kinds of birds. There are both sand beaches and rocky beaches. It is pretty popular with tourists.

“Neat spot, not much to do”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Heard that this was the sea lion spot, so stopped by on my way into San Diego. Finding parking seemed just like the luck of the draw, but wasn't too big of a hassle. Took a walk down the path, which seemed the spot for families and dogs and just people out on a sunny California day. The Children's Pool area is where the sea lions were hanging out, but it was roped off so you couldn't get too close. You were able to walk down to the sandy beach though so you could snap a few pictures. But after walking down to a grassy picnic area, that seemed about all there was to do. Driving out of La Jolla, the main street seemed to have all of the shops and eateries, but that appeared to be about it. So unless you're walking your dog or going for a jog, or a picnic on the grass, there's not much to do.

Through town or grab a coffee at a nice coffee bar many restaurants have beautiful balconies that you can sit and look out over the Water, this is a great place to do some diving and down the shore watch the surfers , and the sunsets , this is one of my favorite spots in sandiego , its extremely enjoyable and relaxing relaxing relaxing relaxing relaxing relaxing

“Awesome Views... Terrible Smells”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

During a recent stay in San Diego, we had a chance to make a few trips to La Jolla Cove. First let me say that getting a park can be tricky. However patience will pay off and you can get a good spot. Lots of people come here to view the seals basking on the rocks. It's awesome to see wildlife in a natural setting intermingling with humans. The views are great but the smell! Those things coupled with the abundant aroma of bird poop at times can be quite overwhelming. But all it all it's a good experience. There are several shops and restaurants along both sides of the streets. Great photo ops avail and if you're into people watching, this is the place. Whenever I return to San Diego, I'll make sure to visit again. Don't forget that the natives call the months of May and June the May haze and June gloom. In other words, it's overcast almost all the time. I was told that the best summer months to visit are July-Sept; it's quite sunny then but the temps are still moderate.
