Owner description: San Diego's most desirable spot for swimming, diving and snorkeling. The water is calm and the cove is ecologically protected. There is also a world famous dive site that is located in the La Jolla ecological preserve.

Generally, La Jolla is one of the most visited places in San Diego. Posh boutiques, restaurants, hotels, beaches abound. There are some tide pools sometimes. Seals, cormorants, seagulls are common sightings as well. It can get crowded in the summer, however. Nearby La Jolla Shores, Windandsea, and Bird Rock areas are quite nice as well. Another similar destination is the Del Mar area farther north.

Imagine a beautiful, sunny day with kids running around, sunbathers relaxing on the beach, snorklers swimming with the seals, and an amazing view! The sound, sight and even the smell of the seals was so much fun! We walked out onto the rocks which was adventurous! We had a blast walking around La Jolla Coves!

This was our 3rd or 4th time visiting this site, but we still found it very interesting and well worth the hunt for a parking spot (it was a Sunday afternoon). The scenery is very nice and there many harbor seals with their pups as well as many pelicans. There was some nasty odors, apparently from all the bird poo piling up on the coastal rocks? Bring some binoculars and a camera with telephoto lens for some great shots of the baby seals.

All the seals and beach is just beautiful, just love the moment! Small seals to some giants, well worth the trip!

Controversial. to say the least. Just don't tell anyone you're going or talk about it afterward and you'll be OK. Locals are DEFINITELY split on the "seal issue".
