Pantai Inn is a small, boutique hotel/bed and breakfast in La Jolla. It's a quiet retreat a short walk from many restaurant and across the street from the ocean.

The interior of the rooms are spacious and luxurious.

Great room, steps away from the La Jolla Cove, incredible staff, owners, and people working on this awesome place!! We were working in the area and came across this beautiful place on our way back to our parked car from walking down to the Cove. I had never seen this place, even though I am pretty familiar with this area of La Jolla. We walked in to get some info and met the owner who then spent the next 25 minutes showing us this beautiful place. From Studios to 3 bedroom villas. Incredible workmanship and love went into every room we saw. We were so impressed that after dinner, we walked back and rented the studio for the night. We had nothing but the dirty work clothes on our backs but just knew we couldn't walk away from the chance to stay right on the beach. The staff made sure we had toiletries and towels for the beach the next day. We walked to a small shop they mentioned and bought suits, sandals, shorts, hats and sun dresses. Everything you need is within walking distance. The next morning we had the best cont. breakfast I have ever seen. So much fresh fruit!!! The best experience ever!! We will be back!!

This place is awesome! It's a true slice of Balinese lifestyle. It's also a VERY unique Bed and Breakfast inn -- the likes of which I have never been to before...

While the Fourth of July was hectic, the staff went out of their way to make it a luxury experience for me. Although the cost is high, what you get in return is magnificent!

Not only is the setting unique, but the parking is free, and I received a complimentary bottle of California wine which was served on a silver platter.

The King sized bed was exactly as they said it would be -- a luxury with the finest sheets that money can buy.

The view from my room was as advertised - a partial ocean view. However, this also afforded me some privacy on what is a very busy night in La Jolla Cove -- the Fourth of July.

I highly recommend this hotel for honeymooners and romance.

It also suited me -- a single traveler - just fine since it was within an easy walking distance of the fantastic village of La Jolla where the shopping is to die for!

I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: An upstairs, full-on ocean view room is the most desirable, but I liked my partial ocean view on the...

I anticipated a good stay from all the stellar reviews on TripAdvisor, and was definitely not disappointed. We had 6 people staying in a 3 bedroom villa and it was perfect. There were 3 bedrooms and two baths. The two bathrooms were attached to two of the bedrooms, so it did make things a bit inconvenient for showers, etc. since my boys had to go through our room to get to the bathroom, but it was a small matter, really, and we managed just fine! Our villa had a nice kitchen with GE appliances, a full sized refrigerator with ice maker, stove and microwave. Dishes and pots, pans, bowls and silverware were included as well, which was wonderful!
We found a grocery store only a couple blocks away (Vons) and were able to use our Safeway rewards card there, so saved some money that way! We cooked several meals there and also made sandwiches for our day trips, so the kitchen was a wonderful amenity!
We had a dining area that seated all 6 of us at a very nice glass top table. Off of the dining area was a small deck with two wicker chairs from which we could see the ocean. To get a better view, it's definitely worth walking the few minutes down to the park/beach area. From the dining area, there was a step down into a nice living room area with a huge flat screen television, a sofa and two chairs. Each of the bedrooms had its own television as well, but with all the things to do in the area, we rarely needed them.
Breakfast was fantastic! A variety of muffins and bagels every day, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. There was also yogurt and granola. We were there for 6 days and never got bored with the selection. During the day there is infused water to drink and usually cookies of one variety or other to snack on. The dining area is open air and very nice with a view of the ocean. There are heaters there too for sitting out in the evening, but we were usually too worn out by the time we got home, so didn't take advantage of that. Our room didn't have a fireplace like some of the rooms pictured, and though it might have been nice, I can't say we really missed it.
We had a minivan and the driveway next to our villa was great for parking. We could have fit a second car easily behind it. Right across the street we were on, Ocean Blvd., was a small staircase that led up to a wonderful shopping/restaurant area. We found a Panera on our first evening there and could have eaten at a great variety of places if we hadn't been sticking to a budget ;)
Down ocean blvd and across the street to the left is the Children's Pool, an area with quite a few sea lions. To the right is an area that during low tide has some amazing tide pools where we saw tiny crabs, anemones and fish. There were seals a little further down the beach that we saw swimming right next to swimmers, snorkelers and kayakers.
The staff was always beyond friendly and very helpful! Our villa was cleaned during the day and then in the evening, there was turn down service with chocolates! Wonderful. My sons got two chocolates every day and the other two rooms got one, but we decided that was because they didn't have their own bathroom, so they got extra chocolate! ;)
The price was a bit more than I would usually pay, but I am so glad that I did. It was a wonderful, central location for all the activities we had going on. We were easily able to get to Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, a Padres game, the Birch aquarium (highly recommend!), Legoland and the Midway museum and harbor cruise downtown.
The only bad thing about the Pantai Inn was having to leave it at the end of our trip!

We recently visited Pantai Inn and felt so lucky to have found this B & B. We had an unfortunate stay at the Hotel Del Coronado, checked trip advisor and made our way to La Jolla.
It's too long of a story but Cathy who is a Guest Services Supervisor really went out of her way to turn a bad situation around and make our visit to the San Diego area a memorable one.
This is a great property, it has it all. The rooms are well appointed. The location is great, you can walk to anywhere in downtown La Jolla. Pantai is also located across the street from from Shell Beach and Scripps Park. The views of the Pacific Ocean are awesome.
The best part, however, is the personnel. Everyone was extremely friendly and accommadating. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. Many thanks to them all !!
We will definitely return to the Pantai Inn. My only fear is that reviews like this might make it more difficult to get a room. That's OK, they deserve the accolades.

Room Tip: Get a room close to the water for the views.

Great inn with a beautiful location. Right across the street from the section of La Jolla beach which included the Children's beach where the sea lions play, and the La Jolla Ecological Reserve where alot of people go snorkeling.

We stayed in a 3-bedroom suite. Having parking right next to the unit was really nice. The breakfast was delicious, with Greek yogurts, various pastries, etc. The unit was neat and clean, but I would say that there isn't much closet space. The grounds are meticulously kept.

Service was impeccable. We met many members of staff, and everyone was friendly and helpful.

This inn is normally very expensive, but we found a reasonable deal on bookings dot com. It might have been a last minute deal, because we booked a week before our stay. We loved staying here, but we wouldn't be able to afford it at full price. Also, their website says no kids under 6. We called and they graciously granted us an exception.

Needed a serious mental health day, so decided on a impromptu getaway to La Jolla to catch a play. Because it was just an overnighter, I was a little hesitant about booking at Pantai Inn as it is a bit of a splurge. Once there, I realized it was going to be a significant part of the prescription for unwinding. From the delightful and welcoming staff to the beautiful accommodations, the relaxing started immediately. Coming round the corner onto Coast Blvd, you can't help but let out an audible "ahhh" as you see the expanse of coastline. The inn is a stone's throw from the beach. It's filled with color and flowers and lush landscaping. Everything is top quality, but natural. And that bathroom! You're getting much more than a bedroom at Pantai Inn. The only disappointment was that I was only staying one day. Can't wait to go back.
