Overall good experience. Renovated 60s architecture which I liked. No one told me how to operate the room key scanner or where the coffee-maker and mini-fridge were in the room (in bureau drawers), but the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very nice. Beautiful restaurant setting overlooking the ocean, although the food was rather average. Would stay there again.

I'm not big on chain hotels, but my wife and our 6 year old stayed here one night in December, and I was really impressed. We didn't want to stay IN La Jolla, so I found this place, which was not too far and the price was right. The room was really nicely done—much cooler and stylish that I'd have thought for a Hilton, and the grounds of the hotel were great—more like a resort, with a really nice outdoor pool, pretty decent gym, and golf course. We only stayed one night, but I would recommend this for sure.

We stayed for 6 nights, the only nice thing was the fairway view from the balcony. I wouldn't mind so much for the lack of amenities (you get what you paid for), however, we've never stayed in any hotel (leave alone Hilton) where our stuff (SHOES of all things!) being taken/disappeared from our room. After we checked in, we unpacked some of our stuff, including several pair of shoes, some were still in the little plastic bags that we packed them in, 2 of them were under the desk, we didn't take them out to wear the first 2 - 3 days. By day 4, the 2 shoes (one of my nice sandals, and my daughter's Toms glitter shoes) had mysteriously disappeared. We discovered they were missing after we returned from the room (we left in the morning they were still there!))
Called house keeping, got transferred to security, told them what happened, told them we are going out and will return in the evening. Nothing happened upon returning to our room that evening, shoes were still missing. Called them again the next morning, somehow, my sandals were now mysteriously ended up in lost and found (I'm CERTAIN they were in my room and hadn't been worn at the point during our trip??? and how did it end up with lost and found after we made several calls to both house keeping and got transferred to lost and found???) My daughter's shoes were still no where to be found, we were promised someone will follow up, no one ever did. By this point, it was day 5, we were checking out the next day. By day 6, we went to check out, told the receptionist again of what happened, she again promise to take our info, and someone will follow up. NO ONE DID. our 5 year od daughter doesn't understand why our shoes are missing and why mommy got hers back and she didn't get her Toms back!!! Got home, called again, was promised "someone will follow up", NO ONE DID!!! what kind of service is this? Sent the manager Katie an email, still haven't heard back. I'm speechless of the level of service (or the lack of to be exact!) we travel and stay in hotel 4-5 times a year, never ever encounter something like this, I'm baffled!!!
So stay at your own risk, keep an eye out for those shoes ;)

Room Tip: Don't stay here

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from Dec 27 to Dec 31rst 2013. This hotel has an amazing, beautiful view of the Torrey Pines Golf course and the ocean beyond. This hotel is less expensive than the lodge but still nice and perfect if you want to play the course. The hotel food in the restaurant is great, especially the breakfast buffet. The restaurant has this amazing view overlooking the pool and out to the course. The hotel is nicely appointed and very clean. Our room was fine. We had a king but not a great view. I decided not to pay the extra money for a good view and I regret that. If you can swing it, go for the rooms with good views. The rooms are no frills. The bedding has not been upgraded to the new Hilton pillow mattresses but for $99 per night, I can't complain too much. Nice bathroom, no bathtub and if you need extra towels you will need to ask for them. The hotel is in a great location to the Torrey Pines State park, which is right down the highway. I loved the quiet location of this hotel away from San Diego and just 5 minutes from La Jolla. They have a separate parking garage and you should just self park. Its easiest.
The bell boys will shuttle you up to the lodge and golf course, if y ou need that. The staff at this place were perfectly polite and helpful.

If you are looking for a hotel where you can relax and enjoy quiet time out AND discover all the sights and attractions of San Diego, this is a perfect place. Located just a 5-minute drive of central La Jolla, this hotel offers all you need for relaxing between visits to the city of San Diego and/or playing golf.

We had breakfast at the restaurant (full buffet), and we loved it.

The rooms are very nicely furnished and are very modern.
Service is great - and whatever request you may have, they'll assist you.

The only thing we were a little sad about was that you cannot just take the shortest beeline way to the cliff's edge because you're not supposed to cross the golf course unless you're playing there. But there are a lot of places close by where you can access the cliffs, so it could have been worse.

Stayed here after six nights in the centre of San Diego. Comic Con prevented us from staying longer at our initial hotel. The hotel is a long way from San Diego and more to the point, perhaps, is a long way from the much heralded beach at La Jolla which we did not see. Having said that it is possible to go for a decent run from the hotel through the national park along the cliff tops. The gym was better than average and the swimming pool was very large. The staff did a good kids program. The beds were a decent size and there was a balcony. Overall however I did not feel that this hotel gave us as good value as its competitors in the CBD and I would prefer to stay in San Diego itself on a future visit.

We spent 5 days at this Hilton and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were large, clean and had great views of the pools (4th floor even numbers). The breakfast vouchers were certainly a plus given the variety and abundance of food. The wait staff of the hotel was pleasant, engaging and enjoyable. The only time we had poor service was in the gift store- the 3 different ladies that worked there seemed to NOT want to be there.
I got a chance to play the golf course, and the proximity and shuttle service made it very convenient. Totally would come back for the value and the experience.
