Very, very good presentatin of live creatures in natural looking habitat. Very educational. Games out in the interactive power area were so fun. And made you wonder about the sustainibilty of wind and water power. Plus they were very inviting for children and adults to "play" with!

OK so this isn't a competitor to Sea World, but we think it is well worth the trip.
Quiet small as others have said, but very informative.
The sea horse collection is great.
Great view over La Jolla Shores.
At the food concession stand beware the scavenger seagulls!

It's very small. If you want to see a lot of fish in aquariums plus a lot more you'll be a thousand time going to Sea World.

There are others aquariums in California that are beautiful but this setting can't be beat. We had a private dinner party at The Birch Aquarium and loved it.

Birch Aquarium is not for just the young! We took our 15 year old grandson and we loved it! Oh sure you see fish swimming around, but it more than that. It is well organized and informative. There truly is something for all ages to see and learn. The location and price make it even better. It is situated on a hillside overlooking the ocean, which just adds to its charm and feeling.
It was a great attraction and a great way to see all the work being done in oceanography research. Definitely consider going again if we were in the area.
