Not huge, but lots to see. Outdoor hands on exhibits are very child-friendly. We were there as a couple, but watched staff interact with little kids and do a great job. If our kids were younger, this would be somewhere we'd take them. Easy to get to, handy parking.

I must admit that I am probably spoiled, because I know an aquarium in La Rochelle, France, which is HUGE and absolutely fantastic overall, where you will spend hours looking at different fish and stuff.

This place is probably optimum for families with small childern, as it does not take to long to go around (1 hour I guess) and there is some outdoor feely pool, where you can touch fish. The different seahorses they had were terrific though, as well as the octopus. I felt bad for that poor guy, however, being in that small aquarium.

Also they had an interesting exhibition concerning global warming, which might be interesting to some.

Second visit, and worth it again. You actually learn a lot here, not just view things like a zoo. If you ever wondered about the science behind global warming, and how delicate that balance is, it will be explained to you. The displays are great! This is an actual working research facility, closely aligned with UCSD. It should spark your desires to travel around the world and discover our oceans.

Interesting, educational and stuff for kids. 3 hours of free parking, beautiful location and reasonably prices. Even found out how fasinating sea hourses are. Worth a repeat visit.

The aquarium offered a very nice stop while on vacation. We went at the end of the day and it was peaceful. The views were beautiful and the exhibits above average.
