“Small but definitely worth it.”

This is a small aquarium when compared to others. However, it is very nice. They have different exhibits with lots of educational information. There is an outdoor area where they have tide pools and animals you can touch. You can over look the ocean from there and the view is beautiful. There is also an outdoor area for children. They can enjoy water play there and learn about solar energy. There is also a shark tank. Parking is free.

WOW i was amazed with all the beauty we saw in this aquarium. I visted an aqarium in Germany but what i saw in Birch was among it. I took amazing pictures for the unusual marine specimans especially the sea horse, amazing with its color sooooo beautiful & how beautiful it is & the tide-Pool Plaza where u can touch fish or coral Reef, featuring live coral and reef inhabitants such as lionfish, chambered nautilus, and giant clams. Yes it is a small aqarium I would visit again.

“UCSD parents visit Birch Aquarium”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

Intimate and not crowded, this ia a fun aquarium for all ages. Parents will appreciate the outdoor interactive activities. Lots of unusual marine specimans, our favorite was the leafy sea dragon. It was other worldly! A small walk up restaurant is quick to provide sandwiches and other casual dinig items. Close to La Jolla Bay and adjacent to UCSD. Inexpensive fun!

“Small, but very nice”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

This wasn't the biggest aquarium visit we have visited, but it's very nicely put together and there are some tremendous animals. The workers were friendly and the view from the back of the aquarium were great.

“Fantastic view, pretty decent exhibits too”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

We were expecting much more and looked around thinking there WAS more. We have been to the Belle Isle & the Monterey aquariums and were expecting something of the same. The exhibits ARE well done, if not smallish but are described well and they flow in a logical sense regarding the location. Educational certainly, maybe geared to school children and would make a fine short day trip destination.

re parking, drive around the lot and park on the back side to avoid the congestion and waiting for a spot to open.
