“The view was great!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Was a little disappointed in this aquarium, it was nothing compared to the Denver aquarium but it was still enjoyable.. The tide pools in the back were cool.. being able to touch what was inside was very neat and educational for the kids. My favorite part I think was the view from the back overlooking the ocean.. phenomenal view!!

“fun checking out the different fish”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

check out the different fish & characters that live in the ocean, great pictures with the right settings on your camera. not crazy about the evolution indoctrination but that's the way science is.

“Nice but small”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

If you want a large aquarium with dolphins and other larger creatures, this will disappoint. On the other hand, if you want to see a great collection of sea horses, jellyfish and other smaller aquatic creatures, this is a nice stop. This place is small but well-maintained and they have a hands-on section where kids can see and touch things in the water. The aquariums are very beautiful. Just be prepared for a much smaller place if you are comparing it to other, more larger aquariums. Since this is a research center that promotes ocean conservation, we felt good about visiting here, as our money goes to a good cause.

“Just right for families”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

As a couple, we recently enjoyed a leisurely afternoon at this lovely Aquarium and found it to be "just right." How nice to have no crowds, to have the time and room to linger at each tank and enjoy watching not only the sea creatures, but the people. Fun for little ones and small enough for parents to keep track of tots handily. A particularly nice gift shop and terrific vistas of the La Jolla coast area. We also had the pleasure of overhearing an aqarium employee giving a private docent tour to some visitors. A very nice diversion, indeed.

Don't miss the remarkable Sea Dragons, the Wolf Eels and the Octopus!

“Good way to spend an hour or two”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

We went without kids and at a quiet time, mid week in late September 2012 - about an hour+ before closing. The staff were very friendly & helpful - from the information table inside to the knowledgable helpers at the Tidal Pool and the gift shop folks. The large Kelp tank was especially interesting as was the seahorse section including the ghostly looking sea dragons. The outdoors tidal pool area was fun and you can see & touch some of the creatures including a lobster - which inspired us for dinner ideas later ... ;-)
