The Sheraton in La Jolla was a little disappointing. While the hotel isn't "bad", it certainly wasn't great. After staying in a number of hotels on my trip from Phoenix to La Jolla to Vegas, I will say this was the most expensive, but worst hotel.
The gardens at the Sheraton are beautiful. I loved the gardenias planted around the grounds, the aroma was intoxicating. Too bad they don't spend that kind of time or money on the hotel itself. The rooms are average at best (we had to move to a new room, as the first one they booked us in was disgusting....blood on the mattress was not ok). The hotel has an odd layout, and it's a little confusing to navigate the property. You have to pay for parking, and the parking lot was a little ridiculous. Thankfully, they do have very helpful bellmen that will help with luggage as we couldn't even find an elevator. The hotel seems like it's in need of some updating, and has the potential to be a gorgeous property. At this time however, it's just average.
