The star of the show is the fish tortas, sandwiches on a mexican roll, the tuna and the shark are my favorite, the chowder is also pretty good too, all of it fresh!!

Just be aware that it's small, limited parking space, 3-5 tables, sometimes there's now sitting room, but other than that it's fresh and good!

Having grown up in Florida I know good seafood. This is a seafood market, that also prepares their wares. The first thing that you will notice is that there is no fishy smell, which says how fresh their seafood is here. But best of all is what is served here that you will not find in just every seafood restaurant. Calamari steak and Huge Mexican shrimp that are the size of prawns. Fresh scallop ceviche. Great variety of fish. There are only a few tables to sit at but the food and preparation are better than any elegance that other high end restaurants in La Jolla offer.

Ate fish tacos, and they were so fresh, so natural, zero fat, delicious.
My husband ate the Swordfish sandwich, excellent as well
Regret not eating the tuna sashimi salad, all fish looked wonderfully fresh and local.

Based on Tripadvisor, we tried El Pescador in La Jolla. We had the salmon and calamari sandwiches as well as the clam chowder. They were all great! The space really is a store but it was fun to people watch and learn a little about how a fish market is run. As wel left, we noticed the "new" El Pescador is being built across the street. Next time we are in La Jolla, we will be sure to try the new location, too!

Huge selection, and you can get everything with a platter or as a sandwich, even have them sautee up a few giant scallops for you. This place has super fresh seafood at killer prices. Keep in mind there are a few tables, but it's not like a sitdown restaurant, it's a deli and counter type of deal. When we were there last, it looked like they were moving into a bigger place across the street soon maybe in 2013!
