The best but be prepared to take it on the go, lots of diners, small area for dining. The fresh crab sandwich with avocado on sourdough was so good. A great local place.

Despite dire warnings, we found a vacant table immediately (on a Saturday night). We started with the Cioppino. Both of us found it delicious, though its fish, after sitting in a pot for who knows how long, was anything but tender. We moved on to sandwiches. My wife had the Cajun Red Snapper and I the local Yellowtail, both with the offered avocado. The sandwiches were very messy, almost impossible to eat without stuff falling out and our fingers getting way too involved. Both of us found the fish flavor overwhelmed by the trimmings - mayo, the avocado, tomato, greens, bread, and thought we'd have done better ordering a fish plate. Salt and lemon improved things somewhat, but in the end we were disappointed. The "atmosphere" included a lot of yelling. The eat-in clientele was mostly mid-20s, and did not appear to mind. Neither did my wife, but I was happy to finish and leave.

Hard to believe that such a tiny modest shop is located in one of the finest neighborhoods in "America's finest city"! ;)
AND that every local highly recommends it!!
Well, after trying it, you will totally understand.

I have been to El Pescador several times, it certainly has the most fresh and tastiest seafood in SD.

If you are lucky enough to find a parking spot at the front, you are likely to be hunting for a seat inside, since there are only 3 or 4 tables!! It's impossible on weekends after 7, so I usually order to go.
The menu is rather simple. They have a great salmon salad, excellent fish tacos (ask for extra cream sauce!!! it's not that heavy :)) ! and the clam chowder is just to die for!!
Oh and the Sea Bass Sandwich is a must!! Oh and the tuna sashimi...... Everything on the menu is so good! Eachtime I try something new, and never was disappointed!

Fresh fish, greatly seasoned makes a tasty combination, and makes this place unbeatable! (even better than other favourite places: Pt Loma seafoods and Blue Water in Mission Hills)

Reasonably priced...but service is just ok...
The line can be long especially during lunch or dinner hours, but It's totally worth the wait!

The freshed seafood around and the best cooks. Great place for fish tacos and chowder. The only draw back is the seating, there are only 3 tables and this place fills up. Very popular place to eat for the locals. Awsome place to go after surfing la jolla!

We went here at the recommendation of a local at another place we were eating. We wanted fresh seafood. We had eaten not long before so we didn't eat much but I had the crab cocktail which was amazing!!! The service was excellent and the food was great. Seating is limited but it's well worth it. Don't pass up this small place!
