“Do not go there!”

Really really bad value for money. Very old and basic facilities, that are pretty worn-out and not even clean and tidy. For that level the prices (e.g. really tiny room with double bed with very tiny bathroom for 109$) are ridicolously inappropiate. And the overall experience was bad too, because also many little things contributed to an overall negative impression (overall cleaniness, condition of all premises, not even a bar of soap in the room, no staff to be seen at check-in, we had to go look for them, no elevators, no wifi in the room, very bad and slow wifi in the lobby, dirty and damaged sink in the room, ...) So let's hope the place gets a refresh one day, after all the location is nice and the place has charme and history.

PS: To make things worse they charged my credit card twice for one room.

The reason that we stayed at this hotel is because we had family staying here and had family staying in a cabin down the road. This allowed us to not have to drive down the mountain each day. When we pulled up to the lodge the outside looked just as expected older and rustic. When we walked inside there was no one at the front desk. We waited about 15 mins then went to find someone. After finding a person the check in was fine, We walked to the rooms to be shocked at the condition of the room. Wall paper was on the wall and it was falling off, along with holes in the walls of the rooms. Stains on the ceiling, holes in the carpet and tons of stains in the carpet. Pet food on the floor and pet hair on the blankets. There was a window with no window covering or shades. We ended up putting one of the blankets up to cover the window. The sheets were not changed from the last persons that stayed. When we told the front desk they said they would get them changed, that never happened even when we complained each day that we stayed, and we stayed 5 nights. One day they came and made the bed and told us that they changed the sheets. By the way "daily cleaning of the room is not a standard service that is offered,"so we were told by the staff, The bathroom was disgusting, hair on the walls and on the toilet. The floor looks like it was never cleaned. One of the rooms had a broken toilet seat, which we told the front desk about, and it got fixed by the cook after we told the front the next day. When the seat was changed it was left in the bathroom so we placed it outside and it never moved from there, for all we know it still is there. When we made the reservations we asked if there were steps, we were traveling with a person with poor leg movement. When we arrived there were 12 steps. The staff was rude as well, one day we went over to the restaurant to get coffee, and were told that it was free. The next day we were told that each cup would be two dollars, for a small cup. When we asked why now we had to pay the response was "they must have been busy and I charge two dollars per cup." We were expecting a cabin feel and knew that there was no TV or other standards in newer hotels, but this place was totally nasty.

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel or look into renting a vacation cabin.

The main reason for our stay was to climb Lovers Leap and hike the area. We've stayed at the climbers camp a few times over the years, so we thought we'd try the lodge despite the warnings from previous reviewers. I have to agree with the reviewers who had spotty service. We stayed in the "newer" part of the main lodge on the top level overlooking the river, which is accessed through the back of the bar. Despite being years younger than the older section, its appearance has suffered over the years from neglect, apathy, and/or lack of general carpentry and design skills. And the restaurant seemed to be short on help. We waited to be seated, despite it being slow. Once seated, we waited forever to be acknowledged, even tables that came in after us were being waited on. So, by the time we were noticed, they were out of their special - the last special going to a table that came in after us. I think the wait staff doubled as cooks, or there was only one person in the kitchen. The food was not worth its price. Stick to the bar food or ice cream. Also, if you plan on climbing at the crack of dawn, don't eat in the dining room. You'll miss a good part of the morning waiting for food.

The owner, who is a very nice person, said they've been trying to sell the lodge for quite a while. They must've had god intentions when they bought the place, but they no longer seem to care. I think with the right owner, it could be a cool place. I love the location and the whole feel of the place. The bar isn't too bad and the bartenders are friendly.

Room Tip: The rooms in the newer part of the lodge have ther own bathrooms; you'll have to share in the ol...

Reason for the visit; climbing Lover’s Leap. Had a great stay at the Strawberry Lodge, the room was neat and clean, the staff was fabulous. Special thanks to Stacey, Kerry and Dan for making us feel like family. The food was great and fresh, the bar was the place to hang after a day’s worth of climbing. The bar was well stocked with a Great beer selection and quality whiskies, looking forward to a return visit. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We ate every meal at the Lodge, food was fresh and came out hot, and the burgers were as tall as the east wall. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended!

As advertised: No phone, no TV, no Pool, no Coffee Maker. Your basic Motel 3 (half a Motel 6). We and our friends of ours stayed 2 nights at the Strawberry Lodge annex. Upon check in ~ which was in the evening, there was no one at the check in desk, but there was young girl playing games on a computer. After a while ~ about 5 minutes or so ~ the young girl finally greeted us & checked us in. She gave us our room keys & directed us across HWY 50 to the annex. First night, the bed in our friends room had dirty sheets. It looked like someone had a bloody nose & wiped their fingers on the sheet. Also there were dirty linens on the closet floor. Our room also had dirty linens on the closet floor & no mattress cover on the bed. The next day ~ after housekeeping had been there, our bathroom trash can (the only trash can in the room) had not been emptied, the bathroom floor had not been cleaned, and we had no toilet tissue as well - none on the paper dispenser & no spare roll. I don't think either room had been vacuumed. Lots of loose debris on the floors. The only way we knew that Housekeeping had been there was that there were clean towels and the bed had been made. I will never go back & absolutely NOT recommend this place to anyone!!! Do NOT bring kids here. Unless you are unconcerned about cleanliness ~ don't stay at the Strawberry Lodge! If you do go there, be prepared and bring your own TP.

Room Tip: No Phone, No TV, No Pool, No TP. Good Luck.

This was a hard review to write, because it really depends on what room you get here. And we expected rustic, but not filthy. Upon check in we had to wait for someone to check us in. When we first checked in they gave us a "annex" room, across from the main lodge. It had holes in the walls, falling apart furniture, cobwebs and spiders everywhere and was just dirty. The worst was the bathroom! Dried feces on the toilet, and a rusted out sink complete with brown water! No way was my family staying in this room! I called and asked if the lodge had better safer rooms. They were very nice and upgraded us to a "newer" room. It was better. Renovated slightly. Much cleaner, but the bedding seemed like it was never changed and had hairs on it...yuk. We slept on top on the bedding with our own pillows and blankets we luckily brought from home. Our room was comfortable, but LOUD. Right above the bar, that went on till 1 am! So after no sleep we attempted the resturaunt. SLOW. One person doing it all. Coffee was nasty, so dark 4 creamers barley lightened it up!! So the food came...and they forgot to put in me and my daughters order! So we did not get to all eat together. The food was not very good either and very expensive for a family of 5. So for check out, again, no one to had the keys too. We left them on the counter.
We had several other family members stay here with us, all complained of dirty rooms. It is such a bummer, cause it is beautiful around there. But I will never stay here again. Though it was nice they upgraded us to a better room, they need to teach thier staff how to clean better and actually change the sheets between guests or get a better washer? I have no idea. Never again, next time we will be camping!

Room Tip: If you choose to stay, pay the extra $ to get a room in the "newer" side. Third floor will...

Great old building and interesting grounds. A beautiful river sound as you sleep and enjoy the outdoor areas. Friendly and nice staff. The place is dirty and needs a good cleaning with a maintenance program from there. I had to remove long black hairs from the bath tub and sink after asking for soap and shampoo that the housekeeper forgot to leave. Towels were nice yet the overall room and common area feel was under par. The restaurant was nice and rustic and the food good, Mary the waitress was the best. If this place was renovated and then had some good general management it would be improved.
