I know...it seems like a cheesy tourist trap....well, get over it & go give Paul Bunyan & the Trees of Mystery a visit! The Giant, interactive Paul Bunyan was a HUGE highlight for our daughter....they had a great conversation as did all the other children (as well as a necessary photo op). The trails through the Trees of Mystery was absolutely first rate....amazing trees, great trails, informative & VERY enjoyable. The Sky Tram was very a great experience as well and well worth the trip to the ridge. They have done a very good job and made this a wonderful experience for all!

The Trees of Mystery is a MUST stop for anyone staying or traveling thru Crescent City. The Trees of Mystery attraction takes guests up the mountain and into the trees on a 7 minute sky tram and deposits them at a landing to view the scenery. Guests also have the option of hiking back down the mountain for a more scenic interaction for their way back down. Guests can also see rather large and old Redwoods and see historic trees such as the Cathedral tree. The attraction is also fairly priced.

I remember the cardboard bumper signs they would put on every car in the parking lot.
much has changed since then. The inspiring Redwood are so majestic. and the different sapes and forms they have taken are very cool if not curious.
The wood carving story trail is great fun and an easy walk.
i mostly enjoyed the tram ride to the top where, on a clear day, you can see the ocean.
Most impressive is still the giant Paul Bunyon and Babe the Blue Ox, toering over everybody as they enter. Paul talkes to the kids and the kids a surprised to hear him talk.
A great stroll down memory lane or your first time to the Redwoods.

I wasn't going to stop here on my drive south. It looked like a tourist trap. And I guess it is. But at the last minute I decided "Why Not?" and pulled in. I thought I'd grab a quick photo next to the giant Paul Bunyan statue and keep heading driving south. Then I decided to pay the $15 and walk through their redwood forest and take the gondola up top through the trees. The trail they have carved out for you is nice and gives you a great taste of the redwoods. Nothing too strenuous either so if you have loved ones who can't do a real hike through the forest this will satisfy them. The gondola ride through the redwoods is really amazing. It's a view you're not going to get anywhere else. Up top was overcast the day I was there so the view was just okay. There's an option up top to hike back down but you need to check in with one of the park "rangers" if you do. It's a bit of steep grade going down so if you plan on doing it, leave the flip-flops in the car. Before you exit there's a history of the Paul Bunyan tale told through wood carvings. It's an interesting way to tell the tale. All in all, I'm glad I stopped.

It's a tourist trap but a good one. My family and I enjoyed the trails and the trees. Gondola ride to the top was nice and scenic. We opted to ride the gondola back down instead of walking the upper trail. I recommend this place.
