“NIce Time at Brockway!”
Reviewed August 1, 2010

Brockway Springs is a great way to experience North Lake Tahoe. The scenery is beautiful; the staff is great; the pool is awesome and the landscape and building exteriors recently renovated.

We never regret staying there...just saving up for next time!

When we originally booked they didn't even mention the fact that there would be construction going on at the time of our stay. When we arrived there was construction equipment, tape and dust everywhere. They would start up the equipment in early morning. When we got to our unit to take a look at our rooms we noticed these giant ant like bugs with pinchers on the stairs and on the bed and carpet in one of the rooms. Not to mention the carpet was very old, dirty and needed to be replaced. We had a 9 month old that was crawling at the time and we were horrified she would get bitten by one of these disgusting things. When we brought this to management's attention, they said that there were no other rooms available and offered to "re-clean" the room - but, they did not show up to clean the room as agreed. After further complaints by us, they had a crew show up to clean the room, but the large ant-like pincher bugs were back within an hour. Obviously the unit had a bug infestation. In short - unit was fllthy (not rustic), had a bug infestation, disgustingly dirty carpet and we were charged top seasonal rates. We were in such a hurry to leave that we left a suitcase behind and management was barely cooperative in assisting us with getting it. Place sucks!!! Will never stay there again.

The unit we stayed in this year (unit 18) had toilet overflow problems and a few of the stairs moved when steped on and should be reparied. The maint crews came over and were quick to run a snake thru the lines. But, this was after we had a sewage overflow and you could tell it had happened before based on the ceiling below. A look at the toilet revealed that it was VERY old and should probably be replaced. The toilets were already starting to slow again when we left a few days later...feel sorry for the next renter. We have stayed in the tower in years prior and have always enjoyed our stay but the rental units have very poor bedding, cheap decor, and the charges are very high so we will likely look elsewhere next year. Recommended only because it is a 'kid friendly' place and the pool area is awesome...otherwise would not recommend.

We stayed here (Tower) two years ago, and returned for a week long stay last week. We love Tahoe, and enjoy Brockway Springs, but potential vacationers need to know that this complex is undergoing major updates. Construction crews arrive early (7 am - 8 am) Mon-Sat. Many workers/trucks/ heavy equipment onsite. Not the same experience as two years ago.

Called to get an exact quote including all taxes and surcharges for a rental at Brockway Springs, but when I attempted to reserve the unit the same week, the quote had changed. Ultimately I received 4 different quotes for the same unit on the same dates (3 from staff, one from the website). While confirming that I did receive a specific quote, the manager Judith refused to honor the it citing a staff member error (Website was immediately updated to clarify their tax policies)
This is not the first time friends and I have had communication and billing issues with the staff at Brockway Springs. In the current economy there are many rentals available. I will be looking for a different place to rent

The place was amazing and perfect for our family gathering. 3BR/2BA with full Lake view, full kitchen and BBQ grill on the deck. The pool was amazing and the stay was perfect. It was ~$300/night for the room, but we were able to stay together and cook great food and eat in the condo with a view better than any restaurant! I totally recommend it! We live near the Lake and it was a great vacation for us only 15 min from the house!

  • Liked — The room, the view and the pool
  • Disliked — Nothing, it was absolutely perfect!

We stayed 3 nights at this condo complex in October 2006, and have to rate it among the best ever. We stayed in a 3 bedroom/2.5 bath condo with large decks off both the living room and master bedroom, overlooking the lake and mountains. We could hear the waves lapping at the shore, and no traffic noise at all. Totally serene and relaxing.

The unit was fully equiped with kitchen, fireplace, wireless internet, VCR, DVD (plus about 100 DVDs), washer and dryer, dining room, and all linens. The decorating was tasteful and cozy. It was really clean, except for some kinda dusty bed linens.

There is a neighborhood swimming pool, club house, sauna, fishing pier and tennis courts about a quarter mile away. And what a neighborhood it is! There was a house down by the pool for sale for 6.9 million dollars.

I'll also throw in a general comment about the North shore, which is really low-key and nice. South Tahoe is hideous and over-developed. So if you're trying to decide which part of Tahoe to go to, GO NORTH! Also, I'll mention how nice the lake is in autumn, full of fall colors, and empty of tourists.

  • Liked — Proximity and views of lake, close to town, homey feel (not corporate hotel)
  • Disliked — Nothing
  • Tips/Secrets — If you have allergies, bring your own sheets.
