“Average Spot”

The only amazing scenery at Jigokudani is the boiling hot spring in the middle part.
Not much a place of interest if you went to Mount Fuji before.

“Go when there are events on”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2014

A winding path through a sulphuric volcanic area with occasional hotsprings, there wasn't a great deal to see during the day for us in May, but illuminations at night were interesting. There are also hand-held fireworks at some times of year. It might be more atmospheric in winter.

“Not the Yosemite, Not the Rotorua. But it's Hell's Valley”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2014

Though not of the scale and the variety of scapes as the the other volcanic geyser-parks, Hell Valley shares the same geologic landscape. Get the feel of the incessant activity that goes on in the bowels of the earth. Activity that has not stopped in the hundreds of thousands of years.

See the origins of the hot water that the onsens that populated the Noboribetsu Spa Valley. Understand the wonders of Mother Earth as it unfolds. Understand the geologic activity that impacts the human environment. See how natural wonders create the attractions that make tourists come and businesses to flourish.

“Worth a visit”

Great to come and see while you visit Noboribetsu. Beautiful steam geysers and picturesque setting. Lots of tour buses here so it can get quite busy.
