“Still OK but needs updating”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

We had previously stayed at Reef Resort in 2007 and had lovely large rooms that were right beside the pool, so when we booked two rooms for April 2013, we booked what they called Pool Side rooms on Agoda. When we arrived we found that they weren't the same room category we had booked previously so we paid a reasonable fee for an upgrade to what Reef Resort calls a Poolside Suite (which it isn't - it's just a large room) and Poolside Twin (which is also a large room but with two double beds). The rooms were quite clean and although a bit spartan, were pleasant. The big problem with the Poolside Suite was that the bed was unbearably uncomfortable. You could not only feel the springs protruding but you could even see them. As the hotel wasn't full, we requested whether they could bring a mattress from another room and swap it out for us. Instead, they brought what they called a spare mattress, which was a very minimal improvement over the original one. By contrast, our family members found the mattresses in the Poolside Twin room to be very comfortable and almost new.

Other impressions: Breakfast was quite good; Restaurant staff varied from friendly to cool and indifferent. There was construction going on in the hotel during the day and the pool area was quite noisy during the day. We like the location of this hotel and would stay again but they do have some upgrading/updating to do.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra (about $10) to get a Poolside Suite. They're much larger rooms.

Really hard to fault this resort. My partner and i have been travelling around Cambodia for a month and would have to say this was our favourite place!
The rooms are quite spacious with a queen bed, fridge, television, wardrobe, safety deposit box and a combined shower/ toilet (hot water).
We had a balcony room, so it was nice to sit outside and chill overlooking the pool. The pool is amazing by the way, spent every moment we could in it.
Location, location you are in the centre of town next to a load of bars and restaurants. Tho, it was very quiet throughout our stay.
The staff are all so nice and we managed to have breakfast both mornings of our stay - very prompt and very tasty!
Would definitely stay again.

Rooms were well presented, good size and clean. Service was mixed, girl on reception was really welcoming however girl serving food was totally misearble.
Only stayed for first night in area, location is good and great to have a pool. However not worth the money, very overpriced when compared to other nearby places.

Our last night in Cambodia was here. Great pool, nice rooms and great food/drinks in the lounge. Staff were helpful and courteous as they called us taxis and arranged a snorkeling trip for us.

The hotel is right in the center of the action, so there were lots of bars and restaurants everywhere and only a short walk to beach.

I stayted at this resort for 4 nights. There were a number of positives to this resort. It's in a great central location, a shirt stroll to the beach. The rooms were clean, but quite simple. The food at the restaurant was adequate but expensive. The breakfast was simple, but very ordinary. Plenty of surrounding restaurants served up much better food for the same price. Pool was very nice and the surrounds we're clean and well maintained. I have to say that I as disappointed about the inhospitable service of some staff members who couldn't even be polite enough to offer a smile. Considering the cost of this hotel (round $40) a night, I expected better service, given the fact it is a resort afterall.

Just back from our first trip to Cambodia. We had already had 3 wonderful nights in Siam Reap when we arrived at the Reef Resort in Sihanoukville. At first I must admit I was so disappointed with our room, it seemed so basic after what we had just had in Siam Reap. However, our disappointment quickly disappeared and we came to really enjoy everything at Reef Resort. The room was small but the air con worked fine, the shower was lovely and the bed was lovely and comfy. It was kept clean by the lovely maid and we spent such a little amount of time in it that it did not matter really. The breakfast was lovely and fresh and the staff were a delight. It is situated in a great spot and it was nice and quiet of a night (after 11.00 p.m). so you could always get a good night sleep. No complaints at all and would definitely return.
