Make no mistake...this is not a luxury hotel as listed. Maybe a 3 star to 3.5 star. Comparing to other Asian luxury hotels (Siem Reap Raffles, Andaman Langkawi, Antara Bangkok, Novotel Bali), this hotel is just not in the same class. The staff are friendly but poorly trained. They are understaffed at this busy time of year so service is even more troublesome. The grounds and the facilities are poorly maintained. While the room was adequate, it was not luxurious and the spa was actually dirty so that I did not want to use the facilities. The food is only average and limited though reasonably priced. The beach is nice and long, but even that lacked adequate beach chairs and was poorly maintained with empty glasses not picked up and old shade huts.

Everything in this hotel is just not up to par..from the beach towels to the grounds...this is NOT luxurious.

Room Tip: Do not stay in Bldg 5. It is very far away from the main area and there is only unreliable shuttles...

Stayed for 5 nights with adult son and daughter. The rooms are spacious and comfotable with firm matressand good appointments. The staff to a person, is cordial and professional, going out of their way to please. The private beach is super with wonderful views and one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. Restaurants are good to great. Have a drink at The Deck and try the crabmeat lasagne. Breakfast buffet couldn't have been more extensive. Town is only a short tuk tuk away.

We stayed at the Sokha Hotel in January this year.
After reading several negative comments about the hotel we were unsure what to expect.
We only have good things to mention. Our room was an Ocean View room on 3rd floor and we had a lovely view through a clearance of trees. You could see boats heading to the islands and fishing boats passing by from our balcony. We dined at both Lemongrass and the Hotel lobby restaurant and the service and food were very good. One morning, however, the breakfast food was not hot enough because one of the guests left all the hot food dishes open instead of closing them.
We had a problem with our air-conditioning one evening but the staff were quick to send someone to fix it within half an hour. The staff were always welcoming and friendly and helpful with any directions for sightseeing. The beach is a beautiful, clean and peaceful with no hawkers and with no or only gentle waves. Sometimes you had to be quick to get a sunlounge as some guests would claim them early by putting towels on them, however the beach is quite long so usually a space could be found. We did not use the pool but it looked good.

Room Tip: Choose an Ocean View Room but ask for a room that does not have trees blocking the view.

when we arrived after a long journey we had to wait at reception,it became obvious that they had not got a room for us, bearing in mind we were staying for 10 nights, they did offer to upgrade us and showed us the villas, however they were situated in what looked like a muddy swamp looking out onto a dirty piece of land with mosquito warnings on the doors. they eventually gave us a room on the ground floor overlooking the car park and sauna, the room it was not fully equipped for guests, the balcony was filthy with an ant trail walking across the floor, when I said this is not acceptable we have booked a room with a sea or pool view, they said that none of the rooms had sea views, this was a blatant fib. I explained that I was not going to stay here for 10 nights, then they offered to find us another room the next day.,the description of the rooms is interpreted according to what they say, superior or sea view can mean any thing according to them. we eventually moved to a pool view with no apology just a comment that we should be grateful for the upgrade.the housekeeping is a lot to be desired the balcony was not cleaned in the whole ten days nor has the wooden floors seen a clean.the balcony windows were filthy greasy hand prints etc,old dust was covering all of the furniture.everything seemed worn out bedding bathroom fitting etc.the hot breakfast was always cold no attempts to heat it. the best thing about the hotel was the beach.

Room Tip: confirm before arrival that you have got the type of room you booked,as the descriptions can mean an...

We thought staying here and spending what we spent would the hotel be nice but it really didn't live up to our expectations. While the beach was nice, the food and service were terrible and the rooms were just OK. Would never go back.

From the moment we checked in we already noticed the disorganisation with a terrible ride there in a car that took almost 5 hours we then booked in for the New Years eve gala dinner and the fact that they didn't have a table for four (the size of my family) also amazed me. The dinner was incredibly average with a bad singer lady that didn't even know the lyrics she was singing and then a local Cambodian band who took us through midnight just singing in Cambodian. The dinner would have been adequate if you like seafood or sushimi but my family, being mainly vegetarian struggled a lot. The next day we had breakfast and this was all good, we just relaxed however the cleaners for our villa came at around 4pm (the time we were a bit hot getting back from the beach). The next day we explored the area nearby going in a 1 1/2 hour trip to a nearby resort. It seems it is general disorganisation in Cambodia as that was disorganised also. Checkout was the worst, we had to leave at 5 am as there was protest. We checked out and they literally had a walkie talkie and said what they thought had gone "wrong" of a checklist however it was incredibly busy. They said we had to pay for 2 bottles of gin, 3 of whiskey. I found this concerning as no one in my family even drinks gin or wisky meaning either, they were trying to scam as, or they were disorganised (turns out disorganisation). We didn't pay just refused and they can't prove that we drank it. If there was better organisation better food, more space, more refurbishments this could be a very good hotel. May I note that the tapas bar (Lemongrass) was excellent just bad service along with everything else.

Room Tip: Rooms in the pontoon are less noisy and are more spacious however are much further from beaches and...

The Sokha is a real treat. It is certainly far more expensive than anywhere else in Sihanoukville--the food, the spa services, etc. But what you get for this cost is a beautiful pool, a lovely private beach (no one bothers you trying to sell you anything or give you a massage) and a very quiet, peaceful experience. If you need a break from city life or touristy locales, this is the antidote. I will say that the main restaurant near the lobby's food and service were very lacking (might be an anomaly, but it was really surprising how poor it was, particularly on a slow evening), but Lemongrass/The Deck was a wonderful, delicious, well-serviced place to eat. There is a shuttle that goes into Sihanoukville to several spots that I would recommend someone visiting Sihanoukville would take because being at the Sokha does not really reflect the city itself. The casino at the Sokha was very brightly lit and had a lot of electronic machines in addition to some card tables. I only played the slots so I can't comment on the gaming.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the second or third floors as many of the first floor rooms seem to have a lot...
