I've stayed at this beach resort before and know it well. Much to my pleasant surprise, it has gotten better. My poolside club room suite was appointed with everything any business or leisure traveler could hope for. Excellent value for money!
I spent two nights here and really enjoyed sitting on the white sand beach, swimming in the pool and dining/drinking outdoors on the newly re-built Deck.
The management deserves to be commended for having well trained, English speaking staff. Free transportation into the city center was a nice bonus.
I live in Siem Reap, Cambodia and with the new Cambodia Angkor Air flights to Sihanoukville, I hope to become a regular visitor.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are light & airy with lots of greenery

This is a great hotel on a fantastic beach. The main part of the hotel is compact with restaurant, pool and beach and all facilities close by. They have another great restaurant along the beach as part of their larger site, and it's easy to get a tuk-tuk from the lobby for the 10 minute ride into town. The rooms were clean, the service was good. Their tour desk was the only really unhelpful thing as they only wanted to sell their own stuff which was expensive. But there are plenty of tour operators in Sihanookville town. But the rooms are good value and the breakfast buffet is good. But the beach is one of the best you will find anywhere.

4 of us recently stayed at the Sokha Beach Resort and found the hotel rooms clean with good facilities. The hotel has a long private beach with plenty of shade and is very quiet. The pool area also caters for the large influx of guests. Although it is quite expensive to eat/drink in the hotel, retaurants in Sihanoukville are only a short tuk-tuk ride away where prices are much less expensive and you can go from door to door from the foyer of the hotel. They do have short power cuts which can be disconcerting when it happens and you are in a lift but power is resumed very quickly so bear this in mind should it happen.
All in all not a bad place to be bases at in the area

Room Tip: Try to have a room on the ground floor to avoid being in a lift when a power cut happens

In the beginning I doubted to reservate this hotel, as many have given this hotel a bad review (only bungalow area is bad, because they renovate this and there are under constructions, but you dont have to choose bungalow). But I decided to go in there anyway.

Hotel was beautiful and clean! Rooms were OK, although the room was a bit of moisture or mildew odor, but a nice balcony and large pool compensated it, because how long do you spend a time in room ... After all, you use it for sleep :))
Pool was with different depths. In one side of 1.4 m and another 2.1 m. Also 0.4 meters children's pool.
Jasmine Spa also received free use of Finnish sauna, steam sauna room and a large jaccuzi.
Also you can go to city with free sohka buses. Tuk-tuk will take four minutes somewhere in the city. Therefore, the ideal location!
And Sohkabeach is the best in the area. A clean and beautiful!
The Deck Restaurant (which is 4 in TA) are really good! Best of Tom Yum soup and good fish dishes and cocktails ... mmm

This hotel is quite dated and service is very mixed. The pool is great, breakfast on the other hand was very poor. There are lots of new hotels being built in the area and I would recommend looking for an alternative to Sokha Beach.

Room Tip: Club suite is good size but bathroom could be better.

A good place to relax after the temples of Angkor and the tuk-tuks of Phnom Penh, and there isn’t much incentive to leave it, for the attractions of Sihanoukville town are pretty much zero, and the hill station of Bokor is almost three hours’ drive away. The restaurant just off the lobby is a bit ho-hum, but if you eat at the Lemon Grass restaurant down on the beach (or at The Deck tapas bar which is effectively part of it) you will do better, and get a free ride there in a golf cart into the bargain. Spa good; cheesy live music in the lobby in the evenings bad. The service is a bit patchy, but the fries at the poolside bar are excellent.

Room Tip: You have to overlook the pool and the ocean; anything else will just be dull.

We had a friends wedding which was held here so thought it would be easier to stay at Sokha, and I must say, from reading previous reviews on TA I wasn't sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised:) The grounds were well kept, beach was super clean, facilities great, breakfast delicious, staff really friendly - one night I was very sick and the cleaner came in and just went that extra bit and made sure I was ok and comfortable! Some may feel it's a little on the pricey side, but worth that little bit extra for the clean beach with no hawkers.
