We went to the Ream National Park with a group. It was quick but it was pretty. The only thing was that breakfast was only a piece of baguette with jam and coffee or water. By lunch time we were all starving!! Lunch in the other hand was plenty and delicious!! We all wished that the hike and the time at the beach was a little longer, but overall was a great trip

Take a long ride up the river on a small boat all the way to where it runs into the Ocean. Take a bit of a walk through the jungle to the beach and have a swim. On your return have a nice simple lunch. Take some shoes to walk in the water if the tide is out as there are some sharp shells in the lagoon mouth. Only costs 20USD per person.

Through my hotel I signed up for a $20 day trip with Romny Travel & Tour. The ticket said the departure time was 8:00, the hotel said 8:30, the driver showed up at 7:50. On a motorbike. So I rode on the back with no helmet (not a problem, but some people might not be happy) the short distance to the Romny place. My hotel warned me that the breakfast wasn't good, but it seemed fine to me: a crusty baguette with jam and a drink (I had iced Khmer coffee--very tasty). We were there for at least an hour, then driven by minivan to the park ranger station or whatever it is. (There were about nine of us on the trip, all booking separately.) We got on a boat and traveled for about 90 minutes through mangroves (basically a wide river with trees along the banks), with no sign or even mention of dolphins. We did see various birds, some very big, and lots of little flying fish. The boat couldn't get to the shore because the water was too shallow, so we had to wade (about knee deep) 100 yards or so to the shore, The water was very warm. Next we hiked through the jungle, along a clear path, while our guide pointed out any animals he noticed. Mostly giant millipedes (4 inches long or so--I saw at least a dozen). At the end of the trail is a beautiful and almost deserted beach. Only a couple of locals were there, on the edges. The hike takes about 45 minutes, and you stay at the beach for about the same length of time. Then you do the whole thing in reverse order, with grilled fish and rice, plus watermelon and coke, on the boat. Definitely worth doing, if not a life-changing day. Also be prepared to give the guide a tip (we were explicitly asked to do this). I'd give it a B+ in all.

I did an organised tour to the National Park (NP) through one of the local agencies. For US$20 the day included breakfast in Sihanoukville, transport and entry to the NP, a boat trip on the river, a short guided walk and finished with a swim at the beach and a cooked lunch. The NP guides were passionate about the park and quite informative. We didn't see any wildlife of note except some birds from a distance. The guides were disappointed and surprised that we didn't see any dolphins.
