“One of the Worst Guest Houses”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Booked in here as my friend had booked in already. The reception is not very friendly, service very bad, needed to ask for clean towels every day, bathroom never cleaned, only the room floor swept and beds made,

The guest house lost my friends laundry and at first claimed had handed none in, then admitted they had lost them, they would not pay for the loss though.

Also the area is very noisy, I would never stay here again and would never advise anyone to stay either.

Maybe stay here as a last resort. We stumbled across this place as other places were either full or too expensive and got a room for $10. Our room was relatively at the back of the hotel and was quiet and the mattress was comfortable. We were only provided with one towel which was filthy, when we went to exchange it for two clean ones they didn't have any at all to give us. We went back later for some towels and they went to another room and pulled out two that were as filthy as the first. They didn't tell us there was no hot water and the signs upon every wall saying they're not responsible for theft makes the whole place feel really untrustworthy. The rooms are large and fairly clean other than filthy towels and really lumpy pillows. We had a minibus to catch in the morning and got down 45min before our pick up for breakfast... It took them 45min just to boil some eggs and make an omelette, so service isn't great in the restaurant either.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the back of the hotel to avoid street noise.

Noisy and expensive but clean rooms. Warning !!! Local staff are stealing property from rooms when you are gone. Sign dont leave the property on the rooms is they only excuse. You can find better and cheaper accomodation.

Nice & clean with friendly, helpful staff.

Paid too much for the room, but we paid too much for everything as it was Chinese New Year.

Close to the beach with minimarts.

Very helpful with tours & taxis

It's a room. And that's pretty much it. We paid extra for the AC, which worked well. The bed was, as most in our Cambodian travels, modestly clean and comfortable, with a lumpy pillow.

The downside was for the $18usd we were half way down a long hall that faced the very busy street. It was very noisy all night long. With no apparent effort by staff to mitigate it. Perhaps the upper floors would be better?

Service staff were great and the location is decent if you want to be near the beaches and strip.

But really when you pay the higher end for a backpackers sleeping room, you want to be able to sleep and that we didn't.

Room Tip: Not the 1st floor. View your room first. I didn't and regretted it.

Sokhom was a very good Guest house! service was great, very friendly staff who are always happy to help. The prices were great and the location was fantastic for how close you are to serendipity beach. The restaurant on the first floor was delicious and extremely well priced, I ate here almost every day of my stay. The only downside to the place was that they did not have wifi in the rooms, only in the main areas, and the showers were cold, both of which are very minor inconveniences.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the beach are obviously better. And if your get chance try to haggle a little bit for t...
