Seaside hotel, Sihinoukville

Having booked a villa rOom , with shower bath tub, mini bar , ironing board air con etc, one street from the beach, all was good.
On arrival, the xterioir looked promising, Infact looked lovely.

On check in we was greeted by miserable staff who was not helpfully at all.

We checked in and was taken to our room. That's all it was, room, shower, toilet and bed.
This certainly was no villa room.
Dirty, no mini bar, no bath tub dirty towels, shower room not even clean.

On asking reception where the facilities we booked for was, they told us, that they have been telling agoda (who we booked with) for several months that these facilities where not in a villa room.

We asked if we could see a standard room, and was told no we couldn't. I was willing to pay extra to be moved to a standard room, as the villa room was that bad, still they wouldn't show us.
Not being prepared to stay in the dirty hotel,we checked out after half an hour and went next door to the crystal hotel.....brilliant place.

I am still awaiting a reply from agoda reference the advertising of the seaside hotel.

I have stayed in far better hotels, guest hoses in Cambodia  on  y three month adventure and paid less than halfthe price.

Woud I recommend the seaside hotel.....most deffinately not.

I have stayed at the Seaside a couple of times since it opened and it has been consistently comfortable, friendly and convenient. With the development of options, in the area, its main advantage now, is its prime location with access to Occheutal beach. It really couldn't be better placed, for this, the best beach with the best beach food, unless it was on the beach itself. However, the hotel is in need of a little smartening up. Beach holidays tend to be a messy affair, what with, sand, wet towels etc and I like this place for its straight-forward, comfortable, spacious rooms and the messy aspect isn't a problem by the fact that they are a trifle basic. The hotel may be showing its age and the food may not be particularly good but I reckon you get value for money. The hotel is very well-placed and at one time was the best and the largest which is hard to imagine since the town has developed so much. Seaside Hotel still can't be beaten for location and a relaxing stay at a reasonable price.

We (family of 5) stayed here early january 2011. Breakfast was OK but not good.
The beach, with plenty of small restaurants is just across the (big) road.
The rooms were OK. Good enough for a couple of days on the beach.

This hotel looks quite impressive from the outside. Unfortunately the rooms are in desperate need of an interior decorator. The internet room is more like a store room and the internet was painfully slow with outdated virus software. Better to stay away from it and use the internet cafe down the road.

The rooms are in desperate need a make-over. There is something about dusty plastic flowers in the room that I couldn't handle. However, we stayed in their executive room and this type of room was very large with a King size bed and lounge, excellent air conditioning and ample lighting. We also had a look in their standard rooms and were thankful we did not chose this cheaper option. The deluxe rooms were the pick of the bunch although still very dated.

The bathroom was the largest I have seen in Cambodia but only had a small sink and small bath that was not attached to the wall so water would run down the side of the wall in-between the edge of the bath to a drain that had fungus growing out. The bathroom was too big for the small bath and sink.

The breakfast was to say the least terrible. I reverted back to my emergency supply of vegemite to see me through. The problem is the food is cooked when the restaurant opens. So if you are a late riser like we are, it is more than likely that the food has been in the warmers for some hours.

We did however like the staff who were friendly towards us. We also enjoyed the location being on the quieter Occheutal Beach. We would walk across the road, through the park and onto the beach. A walk of about 80 meters. This was the winner for us and the reason we would probably return.

We did not like Sihanoukville and would not recommend the town. If you want to stay in Sihanoukville the Seaside Hotel is only average. Breakfast was only local food which was not well presented, and we ended up just with toast. It was low season, and we were told there was a better choice in high season. The rooms were a good size and clean.

Reading the reviews I seem to have had a different experience at this hotel. I found this hotel to have friendly staff except for the restaurant, and the rooms to be clean and nice. The aircon worked well, although the showers were not hot for long this was a promblem experienced alot in Cambodia, its important to remeber that you are traveling in a developing country, which has suffered dramatically. At first we had a villa room but asked to swap to the main building we didnt pay the extra for a sea view but the communual veranda was really nice and accessible and had views. Yes we did get hasled to buy things and take tuk tuks, but as long as you respond with good humour its generally good. We set aside a certain amount each day for beggars, our personal choice was not to give to children but victims of landmines. With missing limbs and no social security how else can they survive. I would happily go back to this hotel, the rooms on the upper floor were being renovated so they could be worth a look. Food in the restaurant at night was fairly boring but you only have to walk across the road for some great places to eat on the beach. Like anything having realistic expectations are important.

Heard I was going to this hotel for a business meeting (I work for a charity that must economize on hotels). I read the reviews online and my heart sank.

It's not QUITE as bad as some reviews here, but it's pretty bad. A few ants near the bed, unclean glasses on the table so small insects (not ants) congregated around them. A few strange smears on the walls. A few mosquitoes in the room.

The AC worked well but I couldn't turn it off! There was construction noise during the day, and my room (107) seemed to be near the staff area so I heard noise in the morning. The sheets and towels were passably clean but certainly not the best--one towel definitely had some old, washed-out stains on it.

The food didn't make me sick and was pretty good, not great.

Staff wasn't exactly surly but wasn't helpful or friendly either.

Internet cafe next to the hotel worked fine but closed at 9:30 one night--not convenient.

The room was very damp--understandable given that it's near the beach.

The beach itself had lots of beggars and people trying to sell you stuff, plus some trash in the surf.
