“Well worth it”

It has been a great stay in 'The Rooster' and am sad to leave, The room was spacious and had everything you need. The bar area is massive and it was hard to get away as was such good company and an excellent pool table and music. Shane and Keith are great down to earth guys and always available if anything needs doing, and they pointed me in the right direction more than once if a bit naive to the area. So if you want a place out of the way but doesn't compromise on quality this is your place. It's also worth saying that the restaurant 10 yards across is delicious and they will deliver to you and is so cheap for the quality. Excellent facilities and very safe as well. Great stay.

Back on "the Rooster" in Sihanoukville after 4 years was a pleasant surprise.
Now it's more of an upscaled guesthouse with a sportsbar in front where you get and leave your roomkey. Though there is no restaurant on the premises the closest one is only 10 yards away cross the street. Based upon Victory Hill a bit away from the beaches with a beatiful view it's more the place for peace and tranquility by the poolside (a smaller but, deep pool).
It will only take you some day to get part of the family on the badly paved street outside with staff & guests at the restaurants, laundry services, mini-mart and the tuk-tuk drivers.
The Sportsbar is also the perfect place to either start or end the evening - or both :-)
We found the room large, clean with a big refrigerator and good air conditioned. DVD-player (movies for loan in the bar) and free wi-fi if it's rainy day helps to spend time. We'll be back!!!

Room Tip: Try to get room number 3 or 4 sharing a really hugh patio with a stunning view. Perfect for a suns...

We stayed 2 nights in a decent (overpriced) room next to indoor car park , noisy dirty bar come sleaze pit . Not sure who was in charge as all were inept , poor wi-fi , mozzies all around the place ,there is a small pool but had so many steps down to it my partner did not attempt to go down , there are much better places around for less $ .......don't waste your time or money here ! Unless you are a drunk and dont sleep at night

Room Tip: Do some research for your next holiday hotel

My wife and I just returned from a tour of Se Asia, we stayed for 2 night's at the Golden Rooster. We were planning to extend, however when we arrived by taxi the person in charge of checking us in had no shirt on and was fast asleep. After waking him up he tried to haggle us with rates and demanded cash up front, we paid. our room was nice great view, however there was NO dining room "as posted on there website" no room service we had to ask for 2 days to have our room cleaned!!! The towels were old smelly the bed stunk of cigarette's.. We checked out and went up the road to a new hotel which was great!! Avoid this place by all means!!

the hotel is very nice.big rooms .new furniture.nice pool and good location.HOWEVER .on arrival the gates were locked.there is no reception service, the owner came out of his room eventually.he was completely naked and steaming drunk.the sheets on the bed were blood stained and the towels were filthy.there is a complete lack of management here and its a a shame as it has great potential.its way overpriced at $60 per night (not even with breakfast .we stayed 1 night and moved up the road to a lovely hotel for $35 per night.i would not recomend this hotel its more like fawlty towers ..

Close to restaurants on Tower Hill. About a 5 min walk to the beach. We stayed in a $60 Superior room which gave us a HUGE room, king size bed, DVD player and massive balcony. Great pool to swim in and relax by.

Took a while for someone to greet us initially, but after that they were quite helpful.

Overpriced. Definately not worth the 60$ we paid. Although the terrace is nice and big, it was not very clean or inviting. The sheets had stains, the bedcover was just icky and the bathroom was a mosquito breeding ground.
The area around the hotel is full of druggies and lone white males looking for company.
