This restaurant is set in tranquil garden surrounds, a very attractive place to eat. The food is very good, the staff are pleasant and speak good English. They assure that their food is washed in clean water, good to know if you are ordering salads. Nice breakfast and a good sized pot of tea is just $1.

I must agree with most of the positive reviews saying that Holy Cow is "simple and cheap". It is, indeed, but what I didn't realize is that one's definition of simplicity may vary.

+ great breakfast selection, including yoghurt w/muesli, oat porridge - almost rare in Cambodia
+ inexpensive (around 10$/pp for a two-course meal with drinks)

- maybe it's just occasional, but there was no music at all. Dining in the proximity of main road without music was not so nice.
- portions were generous, but that's it. Pumpkin soup was saltless, but with a lot of black pepper in it. This cambodian famous pepper seems to be in high favor with locals, but they really should point it out in the menu, whether this particular dish is spicy or not.
Bolognese pasta was...eh...very cheesy. I mean, if I'd cook it myself at home, I'd be proud, but serve it in a restaurant? Doubt that.

So, simple and cheap, as it says.

I ordered a traditional Khmer dish, the Chicken Cha Kroueng for $3 with a decent size serving of steamed rice. The restaurant was quiet, given it was off-season and there were only two tables of people. The staff were friendly and if you needed something, it was easy to get their attention. Located on the main Ekareach St, but set back on the block making it quiet and relaxing. There was a good selection of Khmer traditional food and western, all very well priced. Definitely would return again. Holy Cow was worthy of its mention in the Lonely Planet guide I had, also for its positive reviews on TA.
