“If you "have to" go to Sihanoukville then Serendipity is the place”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We were actually on our way to Koh Rong but due to illness we stayed in Sihanhoukville. The nicname Sin City is there for a reason. Not a place I would take children but anyway that is another story. We were told by our daugher to stay at Serendipity Resort, we did, and we loved it. Quiet, great service, a great pool, and wonderful rooms at a reasonable rate. You can stay in a couble standard room for $35 US and the room is fantastic. A bathtub set my wife's heart on fire after two weeks on the road. I would go there again for sure. But go to any beach other than Serendipity Beach. There are others that don't have beach children on them.

Its bigger then I used to ... but cheaper then I'm used to too. Good Location, nice Staff, nice rooms ... Check it out next time you are down there. I love the little ones, but if they are booked try this one.

The deluxe pool room was good value for $45, fabulous bathroom with walk-in shower and huge bath, plenty of hot water and a hairdryer. All amenities in room large win beds, fridge, safe and flat screen TV. The only snag with having a pool room is that people can look directly into it so you need to keep curtains closed. The pool is lovely and the area was kept very clean. Payment needs to be up-front but at least they take credit cards, unusual for Cambodia. The hotel staff were not very knowledgeable and unreliable when we asked them for an early morning call which came 45minutes too late! If you are not staying on the ground floor be prepared to climb stairs as there is no lift. The hotel is nice but seems unfinished and offers limited service, breakfast only. Beware, the llows are extremely hard and uncomfortable.

Room Tip: Get a room on ground floor to avoid walking up stairs.

Stayed here for 5nights with 8 other friends! Stayed in a variety of rooms. Deluxe twin was the best and most spacious. The pool room was great for quick access! And higher than the second floor and the stairs can be a bit of a mission.
Pool was great and all staff very friendly except for the night staff. Only the girl - cannot remember her name but she ripped us off on tickets for the night bus and upon querying lied numerous times and then proceeded to give us some (not all) of the money she overcharged us. Dollar amount wasn't munched but when all of us paid the same she pocketed a lot. Couldn't speak to management as they were conveniently elsewhere. The man walking around with walkie talkie pretended not to speak English (even though he looked like the manager) lefts bad taste in our mouth considering the great time we had in Sihanoukville!

Room Tip: Pool rooms were worth the price!,

My boyfriend & I stayed at the hotel on 2 separate nights before & after a trip to Koh Rong. On reading the poor reviews I have to agree with some of the comments but overall we had a good experience. The rooms are big & clean. The pool area is good but you lose the sun early on in the day. The staff are poorly trained & the hotel is not fully constructed. It's a shame as it's a great location. It was only $38 a night & compared to some we saw: it's good quality. I think this hotel will get better but reckon the manager needs to be around to improve the service & finish the hotel! There are safety deposit boxes in the rooms now. We had breakfast ($4. not buffet) & it was really lovely. I would definately return to this hotel. Remember this is a 3rd world country & this is a good value & good quality hotel for the area.

Positives: Location, sea view rooms, great pool, wifi, air con, comfy bed
Negatives:
1. Front desk staff loses reservations, lost ours and another couples we heard about. They are very anxious for you to pay at check-in rather than check-out like normal hotels
2. Strange management! worries about giving pool towels. They ask you to use your room towels
3. Says no prostitution in big signs but allows overnight "visitors". Our adjacent room had picked up a prostitute . At 2AM we woke up to noise next door and the guest said he had checked her in for the night! So much for the NO PROSTITUTION signs everywhere at the hotel.
4. Staff is unfriendly and stiff! Not like the many Khmer hotels we stayed. Maybe because Chinese owned.
5. Breakfast nothing special
6. There is a door between the rooms through which all sound travels even when neighbors talking in normal voices. Thus we had the prostitute our neighboring room hired at 2 AM, getting acquainted with each other!!!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are best
