“Just great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

This lovely hotel in Downtown is fantastic. The welcome I received was amazing. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel is clean, cheap with a lovely restaurant. I would really recommend it if you don't want to stay right on the beach - and even then I would choose it anyway!

Nice big rooms, with high ceilings, free wi-fi, great air con. Food & service is really good too. Location not great but if you want to be downtown it's the only place to stay (& drink & eat). The girls do really look after you. Very eclectic combinations of sheets & towels but changed daily so can't really complain, just not our taste!

After a disastrous experience near the beach, I decided to Lonely Planet's recomendation for the Small Hotel. Luckily there was a room available when I called .

I arrived a bit before ten in the morning and was greeted by a smiling and beautiful employer named Rita, who knew my name and info based solely on the phone call. Impressive to say the least. That's just the way The Small Hotel treats it's customers.

Everyone here is genuinely nice and hospitable. On my way out for a walk last evening, Poh, who has worked here for years, gave me a card with the hotel info just in case.

The hotel is spotless yet seasoned to the point where it feels like a large caring home. The kitchen served up meticulously crafted western and Khmer fare while the stunning bar complete with a nice European wood finish serve up dollar Angkor drafts.

Either way you cut it, Henry and his lovely wife run a top notch operation. So charming are the people and hotel, I've decided to stick around s few days.

A great little hotel with nice clean rooms and a tasty restaurant. The hotel is a bit more expensive but the service was great. The rooms were well equipped with a TV, fridge, AC, and the like. We felt very comfortable there but unfortunately the city was not so good.

I've lived in Sihanoukville for 5 years. The Small Hotel was one of the best in the city then and remains one of the best in this fast growing town. The owner contributes to the local community in a variety of positive ways, the staff is experienced and friendly and the food is great. Although downtown is no longer the tourism centre of Sihanoukville, the Small Hotel continues to attract guests because of its great reputation. When you get there, ask about the new Small Beach Bar at Independence Beach. Same great food and service, but right on the beach.

Also , there were a few small things in the room that needed cleaning or replacing, so it was not "spotless" as described by LP.

Staff were very helpful with tours, bus tickets etc.

Breakfast was not included. Definitely visit The starfish cafe if you stay here.

We stayed just one night in Sihanoukville, but received the best of service whilst staying here. The food was good, and the service from everyone was very good!
Free Internet makes everything easier, and in the evening we sat in the bar listening to stories from the owner and his friends, learning some important words in Khmer and had a great time.
The receptionist helped us book a bus over to Vietnam as well, and they spoke English very well. Also, she came running out when we were leaving to make sure we remembered our passports that we had in the safe.

The room was ok, not the biggest room or the most comfy beds, but all in all good value for money.
