“Bonza place, but offers no more”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2011

the beach is overcrowded, dirty, infested by vendors, local kids in search of an easy buck, bag snatchers, beggars, masseuses and prostitutes, western students in search of cheap booze and drugs, grumpy old men in search of erotic adventures and the occasional pedos.

The water is dirty.

Go elsewhere, Sihanoukville has much more to offer .

“Touristy beach where you will be pestered to death by vendors....”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2011

Definitely not the nicest beach in Cambodia, although because it is further away from the main drag than Serendipity beach, it may be a bit quieter. Both have lots and lots of child vendors (don;t buy from them, it keeps them out of school!), beggars, and various folks trying to sell you things. That said, everyone is pleasant enough, but its hard to shake of kids that speak fluent English and are determined to sell you something. That said, there are plenty of restaurants and cheap cold beer to be had. The beach is not particularly clean or nice. For a better experience, try the public portion of the beach at the near end of Sokha Beach, or if you want something very upscale, pay $10 or so and have the use of the facilities and beach at Sokha Beach Resort. They have a great restauarnt and bar, pool with swim up bar, lounges, and the cleanest best kept beach in Cambodia. Too bad its private, but its worth the extra expense (unless you are determined to find 50 cent beers).

We always prefer turning right at the bottom of Serendipity Road - there a number of nice restaurants and some much more private swimming areas among the rocky beachfront areas. At the end you'll find Cloud Nine, nice guestshouse with tidy little bar and Aussie owners. Very quiet and away from the tourist hubub....

“Crowded, unpleasant”

If you are looking for a beach lined with bars and restaurant shacks, this one is perfect. Otherwise, it is disappointing.

“the dirtiest beach in SE Asia, with an hypocritical string attached...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2011

this popular beach is fun at night for its light shows and cheap seafood barbecues, and a place to make friends.
In the daytime is a mess : crowded, polluted, plenty of flies ( especially in the "barang section north of Sea Dragon) and of beggars, and with scores of annoying kids selling bracelets or trinkets, watched by their mothers, older sisters or aunties who offer massage and manicures and controlled by the "outreach"staffers of the various NGOs in town, who use ( and perhaps encourage) their presence on the beach ( with the danger from the ever-present foreign "predators" well-highlighted in their literature and websites) as a way to get donations .

This is pure hypocrisy.

Kids ( 99 per cent of the beach kids are not even Khmer, but ethnic Vietnamese) should GO TO SCHOOL during the day and STAY AT HOME at night.

This is exactly what the pertinent NGOs don't want, as they wouldn't have, without the beach kids, an excuse for their presence.

Pfui !!!

“Friendly Fun Beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2011

Was here September 2011, back again October 2011 because of it's beauty and cheap traveling. Good place to stay - GST Restaurant & Guest House (name just changed to GBT). Only US$5 per night for a big bed room with big bath room attached, cable tv, and clean surrounding. Only 3 minutes walk to beach with many stalls.....and cheap beer !
