“Very friendly”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

A very friendly hotel with staff that are attentive without being pushy.

Rooms were comfortable and air conditioned – a must have in this area.

There is a swimming pool but it is more a place to get wet than swim.

Only ate breakfast here which was good but egg-centric and as a non egg eater I missed out. When ordering a cooked breakfast with no egg I was not offered an alternative, just a breakfast with no egg but at the same price as everyone else.

The hotel is in a good location, a few hundred yards from the beach.

All-in-all a friendly, relatively inexpensive hotel. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Do not opt for a room with a balcony. This is shared and not worth the extra price.

Our rooms 14 & 15 smelled a combination of Lysol and mildew. The staff promised that it would dissipate but after 2 days it had not. Moreover that smell got into our clothes. Given the potential for mosquitoes we did not dare to open the windows.
The restaurant is decent but its selection of Khmer dishes is surprisingly limited. The service is however attentive. At night they put a mosquito coil under your dining table as you sit down.
The Hotel It is close to the beach but far away from its loud music. You may overhear the music from the Utopia disco in some part of the hotel. There is a large supermarket 50 yards down the street on the left. The Sihanoukville hotel scene is rapidly changing hopefully for the better. As of March 2013, there were nearby 3 brand new mid-rise hotels in various stages of completion from soft-opening to any day now.

Room Tip: The best rooms are the ones on the first floor next to the pool.

Little Oasis over there in busy Sihanoukville. Outside look strange but after entering you see a nice restaurant with a medium sized Pool ... surrounded by a not to big Building in L-Shape. Great designed Rooms for a reasonable price ... Very friendly staff and good food. All you need to keep away, from the crowd. I spend nearly a month there ;) I planned only 2 weeks.

Room Tip: As many Hotel, they have smaller and bigger Rooms. If you plan to stay longer, its easy to talk abou...

Had booked in for 10 days but moved on after 3.Rooms dark and faded. We had booked for a superior room with balcony only to find it was a shared balcony,in the shade all day and up four flights of stairs.Food in the restaurant was good but staff showed little or no interest in clients, preferring to hang around the bar chatting to each other,no atmosphere at all.Pool area needs a good clean-up and make-over,very tired looking with no decent beds.

Room Tip: Opt for the private balcony on the 1st floor overlooking the pool

Its a nice little hotel right in the heart of Sihnoukville, 5 mins walk to some nice cafe's and the beach. The staff are super friendly, the hostess was great, the food is good and I'd happily stay again.
We had a problem with a taxi when we were leaving and the hotel staff sorted it out for us right away, no fuss, no bother.
Thanks guys!

After five nights in Sihanoukville I honestly think Coolabah is probably one of the nicest hotels in the area. That does not make this is nice hotel. The day we checked in the manager took us up to our room (the suite) and realized that it was not very clean. There was dust all over the tables and dirt on the floor. He said he was very sorry and sent the cleaning crew up immediately. Their solution was to spray flower smelling air freshener all over our room. The door to our room was a sliding glass door that did not close all the way. We would wake up and find a bunch of dead bugs all over the floor on the inside of the door. Who knows what else got in our room that we didn't see. I think the beds at this hotel were the worst I have ever slept on. It was so hard it was difficult to sleep. The restaurant at the hotel gets really good reviews and the food is probably pretty good. Unfortunately the constant smell of warm garbage goes through the dining room all day. On a positive note the location cannot be beat. The hotel is on the quiet street and is really close to the beach and a ton of restaurants and bars.

Coolabah seems to be a place to socialize. We noticed that most of the people staying here were older and they never seemed to leave! As we walked through the lobby area we would see the same people sitting at the tables or near the pool all day. If you really want to see the beaches and culture of southern Cambodia then this hotel is one of your best options. The rest of the hotels in the area really are backpacker type hostels. Coolabah is a step up from that.

We liked this hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable but some fixtures in the bathroom are looking a little tired or needed a very deep clean, but the shower had good pressure. It's relatively quiet, we weren't disturbed. Restaurant downstairs is great, really nice western food and wine if you're bored of Cambodia food. If you want a quiet room don't book a poolside room, as it's literally next to the pool and edge of the restaurant
