While the food is very good, the tranquility and view give this place that something special. Plus the "cable car" ride to the top is too hilariously fun!

We were looking forward to dinner here because of a good review in Lonely Planet, but we were disappointed. The food was decidedly NOT French and wasn't particularly good. The tractor-pulled cable car to reach the top was sketchy to say the least.

Located far from everything else, you do need a taxi to come here. The brilliant tractor driven lift system is amazing - never experienced anything like it!! Liked the wooden interior and the view from the terrace. At first I wondered why the management allowed the unshaved guy in the dirty singlet and boxer shorts to wander around the tables while he drank wine, smoked and chatted to the other guests, but then we realized it was Claude himself. The wine and water was delivered to our table. Had to pour the wine ourselves, the waiter left before we had tasted. (Could learn something from the street kids at Sandan.) And we had to remove the plastic seal from the water bottle ourselves. So much for service. So how about the food?!? My sirloin steak was extremely chewy and a test of patience and teeth. My girlfriends tiger prawns were not prepared, the unedible bits were left in, and could make you sick if you unknowingly ate the lot.
An extremely disappointing affair from a place named Lonely Planets top choice for Sihanoukville.

A run down place with terrible service and food! Maybe we couldn't enjoy the view as much as described because at night... there is actually nothing to see whatsoever! After a folkloric ride up in a cable car that beats any safety consideration ever, we came up to a restaurant that was deserted and much in contrast with the high expectations all the reviews had inspired us. The waiter and family had their priorities going on and guests did not seem to be part of it. The food was simply disgusting. The service and the behavior of the staff was unfriendly, slow and rude. There are definitely better places in town but considering how bad this was... that's not really hard!

The steak was thin, bland and chewy. A horrible dresssing that wasted the side salad. A red wine sauce that looked and tasted like glue. The french fries were quite enjoyable but it took 15 minutes to get a second portion. The waiter was mainly occupied playing with his children in the middle of the restaurant. Given the positive reviews of other guests, we must have been simply unlucky. Or perhaps it was because Claude was out of town and left his restaurant in the uncapable hands of a very strange trio. As highlight, we got insulted by the chef because we made gave our opinion on the food and the service. Maybe because we were the only guests in the restaurant that night. Value for money one of the worst we had during our stay.
