“A Huge Museum on the Inside!”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

This Museum is a hidden gem of Kernville. An often overlooked place to visit is one of the first places I suggest to guest at my Lodge. The Museum covers the entire history of the Kern River Valley and the old town of Kernville. And the gold rush. It is a must to see.

“It'll Take You Back In Time”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

If you really want to know about the history and places around Lake Isabella and the surrounding area, you need to visit the Museum in Kernville. Everyone there is a volunteer, nobody gets paid, and the museum receives no government funds. It is supported by donations only, but it is chock full of actual items from the past. And the docents are very knowledgeable.

“Great museum for its size”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

This is a great museum that describes the history of the Kern River valley. The volunteers are terrific and proudly enjoy explaining the area history. If you are in the Kern River valley stop in. I am not sure it is a place one would go out of their way to get to. Good fishing and hiking in the area.

“Fun and Interesting”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

We have visited the Kern Valley Museum a few times, and it is always interesting. We enjoyed seeing the way the early settlers lived - the outside collections were surprisingly large! The museum is located right by the Kernville Circle, easy to get to, never a parking problem.
