“Wouldn't Stay Anywhere Else!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2010

Our cousins own a nearby campground. My husband is disabled and unable to camp. We tried the Sequoia Lodge as a camping alternative. We were both very pleased with the cleanliness of the room. Not in the least bothered by insects. Air conditioning worked great. Compared to the stories of others in our party, who stayed in motels closer to Kernville, I would not stay anywhere else!

Stayed 3 lovely nights in great room #17. Very clean, Nicely redone. All rooms spick and span, very good beds (We had 2 queens). Microwave, frige and coffee maker. Fantastic River sounds all night. Just as we expected from web site, even better. Bring corkscrew and own wine glasses.. May be a bit hustly and bustly during high season, perfiect now in early spring.

We spent the weekend after Thanksgiving at the Sequoia Lodge. It was lovely. The lodge is a short walk up from a beautiful spot on the Kern River. Our little family was there to fly fish and we loved being right on the river. There is a patio that overlooks the river where you can enjoy your morning cup of coffee or even grill out on the grill provided. Our 7 year old son enjoyed playing there as we loaded the car. There are rooms listed as closer to the river, but only by a few more steps. Our room was #16 and when we go back we'll request that one again. Looking around, we figure you really couldn't go wrong with any of the rooms. Ours had a fridge, coffee maker (with REAL coffee mugs!) a microwave and sink and a little table that seats two, also a good sized t.v., two comfy queen beds and a bathroom with a shower stall. Everything was clean and cozy. There is also a general store right across the street where we bought a fishing license, sling shot & a cup of coffee. (the store was closing up after the weekend for their off season) The lodge owners were very friendly and personable. We thoroughly enjoyed it and are so glad we found this spot. We will definitely go again!

I am writing this review almost a month overdue...I swore I would write one because its important for people to know what I think..I mean this in the honest of ways. Im a mom and my husband and I work hard when we plan a trip whether if its 5 star or seeing "California" I want to make sure the place is clean. Well Honey let me tell you. I am picky as heck (not a princess mind you) but I get weirded out by "stains and smells" THE SEQUIOIA LODGE WAS FANTASTIC! We checked right in had a clean room with clean carpet, cute furnishings, complimentary "popcorn, microwave, coffee, etc...Shower was great, the bed was soft but firm, a/c was good too. The best part was the location, RIGHT ON THE RIVER, You can sit out on the rocks and watch the river drift by and really appreciating that you are not stuck at the office. My hubby and son fished too. My son looked up at the stars and said wow ive never seen so many in my life..!!! The next day we all went on a awesome river raft trip "Jungle Run" on the kern (Whitewater Voyages) and then for dinner we cruised down to MCNallys for the famous 32oz, great big steak! 2 nights = Perfect family trip, I WILL GO BACK NEXT YEAR TO SEQUOIA Lodge!! I loved it and I loved the manager too she was extremely accommodating and friendly. Good times !

  • Liked — The cleanliness and the being on the river
  • Disliked — that we couldnt stay longer....

The room was quiet, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

We only stayed one night but we now wish we’d booked more!
We will definitely be coming back again next year.

If you want a place right on the river, this is the place to stay. Walk down to the river (about 50 yds) and fish. Fish cleaning facility on the premises. Rooms are in great shape, new furniture, modern. Beds are excellent. You can sit out and barbeque overlooking the river! Have been coming here for years and it's always a high quality place to stay. Only negative is that the showers are a little small.
